Gotta luv it when a new guy goes to a gun fight with TWN carrying a knife ....FYI the fng is from what used to be a mining town in northern Ontario....we call it the land of green grass & tall trees because it was originally used for lunar landing practise because the landscape was the same.... :dribble: it's also known as the home of the largest nickel & science north where you can pet a beaver (insert whatever you like here)....oh ya & a porcupine (not going to go there)....

my little Highboy is an all steel '32 on custom rails ,, it is a car that was purchased by my grandfather ,, then my father and uncle owned it and modified it in the '50's ,, I took guardianship of it in the mid '80's ,, all parts are vintage ,, the engine is a 1953 331 Firedome out of a Chrysler New Yorker Hearse ,, in the past it was street raced ,, drag raced at local strips ,, used to cruze ,, and hauled shine ,, I am sure my cousin was concived in it ,, maybe me too ,,

The hugger is cool.

I see the resemblance of an undertail but it only looks like they just cut the mud flap off.

I think he has something in mind of actually making the side that comes out and holds the 2 side turn signals in the rear come more to a point like a sport bike does.

Stock sport bikes are even wide in the back and the undertails replace all of that and come more to a point.

Anything like that...

IIRC, some hugger installs didn't turn out so hot on this platform, don't recall if it was due to poor materials, or the bike config. I do know some have been returned to the oe setup though.

Ahhhh yes...I sure miss the good ol days of cleaning, lubing, and adjusting my drive chain at (what seemed like) every other fuel stop. Oh, and I especially loved the part where I would plop down $250 bucks every 15K miles for new chain and sprockets.

CHAIN DRIVE??? C'mon sparky, enjoy the "touring" side of our sport touring bikes...no chain, no mess, no adjustment, low maintenance...no more chain lube on your work pants or on the underside of your luggage.

This thread doesn't need to go this direction because of my personal desire.

Think of all those people wishing for a sixth gear. Changing sprockets is an easy fix for highway speeds that for shaft the only option you have is a larger rear wheel.

I know many people on dirt bikes that have had the same chain on for literally years. Keeping the chain properly lubed and adjusted goes a long way to reducing replacing one every 15k. Ask Warchild how often he changes his chain on his blackbird. With his auto lube feature I would imagine he goes a long way...

Now back to the regularly scheduled disagreement...

PS. Had to add, stop using PJ1 junk. It attracts dirt and adds to cleaning of the chain. On my dirt bike I stopped using that stuff a long time ago. I use WD40 and it works great. The one I guy I mention that has gone years on the same chain, yep WD40...

TWN thats the site I remembered. The undertail treatment as well as the hugger are new pieces. It really smooths out the bottom of the fender and the color matched paint looks nice as well.
