I notice bad spelling quite frequently on this forum. Is it because the poster is in a hurry or is it for lack of knowing.
Jus wonderin... :yahoo:

my mother tongue/native language is German and so I am always surprised when I see all those spelling errors
Noticed any English slipping into tagliche Deutsche? The whole way we communicate is changing. Want to see spelling that will stop you in your tracks, look over a teenager's shoulder as he/she IM's a friend. I'm no longer Dad or a parent, I'm a "rnt"

yes lots of English words entering the German language and the nitwits do not know at times what it means or apply it when not appropriate...

Words used to jump at me too, but my doctor gave me some pills that made them leave me alone.

Back on topic, aren't you all aware that differing spellings of words aren't correct vs incorrect, they are just different dialects? If someone uses a different spelling for a word than you, or a different word (like their vs there), maybe they are just more 'urban' or something.

Different spellings of words are all equally valid and each is a unique snowflake to be treasured. Just like the kid who spends the class period eating crayons and recess eating gravel...

Its simple, in the American public education system, if you can keep up with the curriculum you fine, you will get a half decent education. But if you don't keep up and fall behind, your f**ked. The system could give two sh*ts about you. No extra help worth anyting to speak of if any at all will be provided.

Our public school regularly graduate kids from high school with nothing better than a third grade education.

Public schools in the United states suck. Until we abolish tenure for all educators, demand a higher education standard for the teachers and pay them more for the job, if well done, will never improve at all.

But since none of these things will ever happen, I think allowing school vouchers and school choice for private schools is the only way out of our currant failing system.

Oh, if we all could spell on the board, how would the well educated snotty people on the board put the little poorly educated people down when the cant make a good argument. <_<

Just curious; how is this political?
Anyway, the American school system is considered a babysitting service, not an educational service, if the comments of the "parents" I talk to are any indication. Plus it's badly underfunded. Plus if teachers even think about attempting to discipline a student that's disrupting the class, then all hell breaks loose on her, and "my sweet Johnny-boy NEVER misbehaves! why, he's a little angel!". So you end up with lil' ******** screaming and yelling and throwing things, and the rest of the class is laughing at him instead of listening, and the teacher can't do anything about it.

Forum Guidelines:2. No religious/moral philosophy/political crap. There are countless forums/blogs on the web if you want to delve into these divisive topics. This is a motorcycle forum. That said, political discussions SPECIFICALLY about pending motorcycle legislation, regulation, and laws are allowable.

Well, there you have it folks. That should settle it. We now know exactly what the problems are and how to fix them thanks to this post riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. Hey, why wouldn't we trust this guy? I'm sure he knows what he's talking about, right?

Of course he does. Obviously, the voice of experience.

I just don't see how any of those apply to his opinion, except maybe the moral one, but that one would only attach loosely. I happen to agree with him and see no foul in his comments.

OK, let me help you out here. See, he's arguing that the school systems are failing us as a society. The irony (and the humor) comes from the fact that his post is full of errors. That feeds right back into what another poster said about being smart (or in this case having a valid argument) but lacking the skills to effectively communicate your thoughts and ideas. So his spelling and grammatical errors only serve to erode his credibility on this topic. He may be the expert on this topic, but we'll never know.

I find irony like that quite entertaining.

Do you think I was being too snotty? :dntknw:

Thank you for the explanation Gun. Reading two posts in particular, I do see your point about the irony. I also want to thank my HS English teacher, Old Lady Logsdon, for giving me the skills not to sound (hopefully) ignorant with my grammar. However, no one likes to be scolded, especially when they did not break the rules.

Spanish is still considered a foreign language in Florida?
Hey! I was bein' a GOOD boy and not going there! Actually, I work in an international support center, so people around me speak Japanese, Korean, German, and even some British and Australian.

I remember an epic misunderstanding between one of the Brits and one of the Aussies, and the Brit came away thinking the Aussie had "house goats"

We don't even teach a foreign language any more, not even Spanish, at least here in Florida.

I'm getting in on this rather late but..... You're quite clueless :glare:

A) I'm not having kids
Thanks, we natives appreciate it and it also explains your earlier comment.

"It's a damn poor mind that can only think of one way to spell a word." Andrew Jackson
Very close to the correct answer. You see, this forum is loaded with "creative" people. Now just exactly how creative is it to spell the words the same way everytime.......not to mention dull!
