I think the the only reason I had the problem twice, as well, was incomplete cleaning of the vacuum tubes the first time. I was more thorough the second time (more WD40).

The only goop in mine was in #12 from the diagram...

Did fault code 14 show up in the diagnostics?

Yes, number 14

Typical for that particular issue and consistent with the symptoms.
I never had a recurrence after my initial problem with goop in the intake air pressure sensor hose.
