I shortened my mirror studs some time ago to clear the 12v. outlets that I installed. When torqured down, the studs came up flush with the top of the nuts. However, now that I'm trying to put some Clearwater Krista lights on the bike, the thickness of the Kristas' brackets is causing a problem. Though my mirrors are in near perfect condition, the shortened studs from the mirrors are TOO short. I need to buy some stock Gen 1 mirrors. Guess I need some help here.

I read that CraigRegs was having a problem getting the studs on his FZ1 mirrors to clear the Clearwater brackets and rubber washers on his '07...here? CLICKY

Not sure if this would be an issue with my Gen 1. Also, what do these rascals cost?

Gary,

I picked up a set of the FZ1's last season for $116 + ~$10 for shipping from Cycle Parts Warehouse (huge improvement over stock for a wide guy like me). You'd be looking for part numbers 5LV-26290-00-00 and 5LV-26280-00-00. Not sure about clearing the Clearwater brackets...

Thanks for the input, fellas. My research turned up a 70 dollar option from Twisted Throttle: FJR mirror extenders. I would have gone ahead and bought them, they'd probably work just fine. However, a small miracle enabled me to buy myself a little extra room in dealing with my mirrors: I got em to work. The mirrors and the Krista brackets are mounted, so I'm all set. I'm having some wiring problems with the install, so it seems that I've jumped out of one problem and into another.

Uggh.

Gary
