FYI,

I'll be putting into all the condo's coffee, cream and sugar.

If you want tea PM me.

Breakfast (which is paid for) is at the rally room.

Monday Tuesday evenings we are having fund raising Barbq's

Rally dinner is Wednesday

Now the important bit.

The cheapest place to buy beer in QC is at Costco.

The nearest one in in St Jerome about 45 km down the I15

Diana, my missus is bring our minivan and we will be making supply runs with the van.

Diana will have control of the van and is now changing her name to CFR2010 Rally Goddess because if you tick her off guess who's supplies will not be picked up.

We will be making a Costco run on the way to the rally on the Monday and thus we can arrange to have your initial supplies installed in your condo fridge when you arrive.

I also expect to have to make at least one run on the Tuesday depending rate of consumption from Monday.

Below is a list on what they hand on hand today and todays price.

If you want us to pick up some beer then post up what you want.

Being Costco what what they have on hand can vary day to day so post an alternate if you want that.

If you only want 1/2 a case post that and i'll try to match up the cases.

I don't need your money now just on arrival.

If you don't see what you like there is an SQA in town and we can do a run there.

Beer is at cost plus $5 gas, plus a voluntarily contribution to our charity.

Hold on there now!!!

No one said there was going to be drinkin'!! I suppose there will be cursin', gamblin' and other sinnin' goin' on as well?

This could offend my delicate sensibilities!!!

Oh what the hell...put me down for a 24 of Stella.

I know this's like NEPRT tire or oil thread, but what do you Canucks think is the BEST Canadian brewed beer? I want to drink Canadian beer while in Canada, just like I drink Mexican cerveza in Mexico!

Here are my tastes in beer when I am en mi Casa in Chandler: 1) Stouts: Guinness and Smithwick's, both Irish of course. 2) Ales: Bass and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. 3) Lagers: Harp and Samuel Adams. 4) Pilsners: Any and all pilsners are my favorites, are any of the Canuckistan beers of the pilsner variety? 5) Light Beer: Beats the hell out of me, I have never had a light beer in my entire damn life!

Tell Diana Thanks. Once I get some Canadian beer drinkers feedback, I will place my order and pay you when I see you. Hard liquor: No problemo ese, Papa is bringing Herradura Tequila Especial, Arriba!

Yep... asking which is the best is bound to start a fight...

The one's Chris listed with familiar names are pretty much the same as you'd get south of the border.

Of the Canuck beers listed: Blue is a Pilsner, Keith's is a Pale Ale, Molson EX is ale, Molson Dry is ... um... I've never quite been able to figure out WHAT Molson Dry is... , Rickards Red is a Red Ale, White is an unfiltered wheat ale, and dark is a dark ale (not dark enough to be a stout).

Blue is a pretty standard pilsner, which used to me more popular.

I like Rickard's White (without the gay orange slices they insist on putting in it). When I lived in Quebec I was weaned on Molson Ex. Gypsy (being a Bluenoser) will tell you that Keith's (the pride of Nova Scotia!) is the best, but his opinion is highly suspect. Mem will whine because there's no Moosehead.

Just remember two things, and you'll be OK...

1) There are no BAD beers, there are only BETTER beers

2) Drinking American beer is like making love in a canoe... it's F***ing close to water!

Sorry I won't be able to join you folks for a few cold ones... enjoy CFR!

Griff

Griff, thanks for your tutorial on Canadian Beer! It appears Richard's Dark would be most similar to Dos Equis Dark Amber, my favorite la Mexicana cerveza. So Chris, if you'll please have Diana score me a 24 bottle pack of Keith's Dark, I'll settle up with you when I arrive. https://www.santanbrewing.com/ Griff, I'm lucky this is in Chandler, I bring home a refillable gallon each and every week. Saludos!!!

Now if you like pilsners, then you should check out the beer known as "Pilsner"! It has an almost cult like following! :D

I don't necessarily agree with the other Jeff that there are no bad beers, I've had many over the years! but I think his statement applies to the beers listed. Most of them are of the super high volume, highly promoted, mass-market beers. My favorites are of the Honey-Brown variety but I'll drink just about any beer that anyone offers me! ;)

Chris,

Are QC prices better than ON prices? Last time I was in ON I thought the beer prices were pretty good. Just curious.

There is no Keiths dark on the list.

Costco only carry the mainstream beers they aim for volume not quality, if you want some thing not on this list then we will have to make a run to the local SAQ when we arrive.

That's not a problem it's about 10 mins away, please note full retail will be at least $10 more per case.

That's OK, Chris. Just get me Molson Blue Pilsner, Griff is referring to. Hell's Bell's, as long as it isn't god damn light beer and it is high in alcohol content then this El Borracho Viejo es fantastico, ese!

What no Canadian!!!! damn I'll bring my own!
Rob
 Reminds me of a friend in ON who was on the Tactical Unit of the Kitchener Police. He said if they were ever on a call and people were drinking "Canadian", he just had to make some arrests!

Funny that Costco doesn't have it as it has to be the most publicized, high volume, mass-market, below-average (IMHO ;) ) beer out there! :p

I'd recommend the Stella before either Labatts blue or Molson Ex.

Being as Brit the only Pilsner type beer I like up here is Moosehead (not sold at Costco)

I could never tell the difference between any of the main stream canuck beers.

If you like darker beers the Richards taster pack is not bad either, I'm currently working my way through one now.

Chris

oh gawd, what's next, koombyah at the campground?
Senor Donaldo Carver, Mi Hermano: Funny that you should mention this dcarver, I have noticed in the past when I attend FJR events in Canada that I do receive a lot of hugs. I really love it when they are coming from Mary Ellen, Miss Barb and Kasey; not so much, when they are being administered by FastJoyRide, FJRGuy and Griff. Oh well, a hug is a hug is a hug!!! Oh, Canada!!! Koombyah is A-OK!
