Synthetic vs non engine oil

I've read many threads on similar topics but specifically would like some feedback from forum members on the following;

A) Have you experienced any clutch slippage when using syn oil?

B) Did you experience smoother shifting with syn?

C) Did you find shorter clutch life using syn?

D) Will idle speed increase and require adjustment with syn?

Hopefully this will not bore the sh-t out of the old timers!!

OK, I'll bite. What is 'non engine oil'?

Would that be vegetable oil? perhaps olive oil? maybe peanut oil? What grades do they come in? You can't use those in a feej engine, just in case you weren't aware.

This topic bores me. So I'm bored, very bored. Bored enough by the topic to say that I don't care that it isn't Friday. I'm off to the can. That's how bored I am.

Just use whatever meets the service grade in the appropriate viscosity range and change it more often than the manual specifies and stop posting this stuff.

Maybe...? The thinking could be: that the "Super-Slippery-ness" of some motor oils (synthetic...?) may cause the idle speed to increase (due to less friction...)?

The idle speed on the FJR isn't completely controlled by the ECM (like some F.I. auto engines) -- there's an idle speed adjustment knob. :blink:

Mine usually idles at about four grand after a Mobil synth 15w-50 change, but I never touch that knob, I just add a little sand into the oil fill hole until my idle drops into range. :glare:

Using your figures above, you're putting 5 quarts in your Feej. Shouldn't it be 4.25 quarts?????

Hence why so many folks use a gallon jug plus an 8 ounce bottle of STP. That's 4.25 quarts.
