I'm not sure that I'll have anything of note to work on, but I plan to show up just to hang out, BS, and help where needed. I don't plan to stay as late as I did last year, lol. ;)

Good. Now I don't have to worry about how much gas is in your tank!

I'm good with either date. I know that my plans to do a valve check is time hungry. If you'd rather me come @ a different time let me know. Otherwise I'm in. I'm not bringing any cookies tho...

Yeah Marty... don't even think about coming unless you have your high socks & boxer shorts.
Like THAT would be an issue...

I have a shim kit you're welcome to borrow. just replace the ones you use. that way you're not ordering shims you don't need until after your done... That didn't really make sense but you know what I mean..
I have a shim kit also, but thanks. We did two valve clearance checks last year and didn't have to change any.
Well, La Dee dah!

I got a Shim for ya...
Keep it up and I may have to kick you in the shims!

I'm trying to think of something I could do that doesn't involve perching my fuel tank on Bob's stool. ;)

  • Re-build forks - I've only done a flush/fill, but never a rebuild...I'm sure the bushings are worn out.
  • Replace headlight lens assembly (left lens internally crazed from fuel fume ingestion a couple years ago)...both lenses are a single piece apparently.
  • Replace rear shock - Thinking about picking up a Gen III shock (unless I do something in combo with the front forks...ala Traxxion)
  • General BS'ing and lazing around, making up stores. This is mighty appealing...

Just an FYI, but I do not have the tools for doing bushings.

Yea, didn't think you did...plus, I haven't a clue what's required, lol. I'm probably just going to go up there with nothing to do...or something very minor.

I know I read threads about how to make a home made one. May have to supplement the tool crib.

Maybe I'll have my new FYBOB license plate by then...
Now, that I would like to see!

If they wouldn't cost me $87.00 annually I would consider it. Ohio ain't like VA. when it comes to the vanity plates.
Such a tease!
I'll get them...if you'll split the cost.
No way!....And now back to your regularly scheduled thread....Tech day!

Ok...but I was gonna let you install them

Date/time solidified yet?

Things I'd be interested in doing/learning:

Spark plug replacement

Brake/clutch fluid replacement

Headlight bulb replacement

Probably old hat to y'all, but as a new owner with only 15K miles on, these'd be interesting.

WANTFYBOB license plate
.... If they weren't so damn expensive in Ohio, I would get it.
Me too but same in DE... $40 per year every year, not a one-time payment. Bummer.

Then I remembered, I keep a CA tag on the bike since I bought it out west... so I checked on CADMV and the tag is available but they want $98 for the tag and then $78 every year. Total Bummer!

OK. First order of business. Set a date. I am going to call it for the 25th. That really works better for me as I will just be coming out of an outage on the 14th and if it is anything like the last one it won't end there.

Second - I already checked and you can't get FYOB on a motorcycle license plate in VA. You could get it for a car or truck, though. FYB wasn't available.
