Date/time solidified yet?
Things I'd be interested in doing/learning:

Spark plug replacement

Brake/clutch fluid replacement

Headlight bulb replacement

Probably old hat to y'all, but as a new owner with only 15K miles on, these'd be interesting.
Do you have speed bleeders? If not, get them and we will put them on. Makes the brake and clutch fluid change a breeze. Headlights are a pain, but once you get the technique, not so bad. They can be done without any plastic removal. If you are going to do spark plugs we may as well do a TBS since we will have the tank off.

Thanks for hosting Bob. I'll be coming down with nothing in particular to work on but would like to learn some stuff. I hear a valve check is a good thing. Looking forward to it.

I just ordered the parts to do my fork seals and bushings. I just need to get oil. I also have new led headlights(thanks Justin!) to install. I just did my oil anf filter when I got home today, so that is good until after SEO. I should be getting the OEM fork seal and bushing tools on loaner from Duane(1910). I also want to go through and re-torque all the frame attachments. So that pretty well does it for me.

We will be doing a valve clearance check on Heidi's Gen1.

Pair removal and block off plate install in Fred's Gen2.

What is everyone else interested in doing or needs done? Post up and let me know.

I have a carbtune to do a TBS for anyone that wants it. Just don't have the tank full! I will also have the tire changer and balancer available if anyone wants to do tires.

I am looking forward to this tech day. We may even have a Canadian invasion all the way down here in Virginia!

I'm trying to think of something I could do that doesn't involve perching my fuel tank on Bob's stool.

  • Re-build forks - I've only done a flush/fill, but never a rebuild...I'm sure the bushings are worn out.
  • Replace headlight lens assembly (left lens internally crazed from fuel fume ingestion a couple years ago)...both lenses are a single piece apparently.
  • Replace rear shock - Thinking about picking up a Gen III shock (unless I do something in combo with the front forks...ala Traxxion)
  • General BS'ing and lazing around, making up stores. This is mighty appealing...
Just an FYI, but I do not have the tools for doing bushings.
Yea, didn't think you did...plus, I haven't a clue what's required, lol. I'm probably just going to go up there with nothing to do...or something very minor.

I'm working on going the Traxxion route...I'll know more later. :D

I just got my block off plates in the mail, yesterday. It'll be good to see all of you guys & gals.

Anyone that needs my address and phone PM me. You are welcome to ship anything to the house. Just let me know it's coming.10 days until Tech day!

I have pre-disastered the garage with my fork service. Spilled oil, forgotten part, re-work....No beer was spilled, though! The mess will be cleaned up this afternoon. Spanky even commented on how good the garage looked(before I got started yesterday). If for nothing else, the tech days force me to tidy up the garage once a year. BTW, overall the fork service went very well. If anyone that is coming wants to do seals, I have a kit they can purchase. With Duane's tools the job is easy. Just have to bring the fluids you need.

So how long do these usually last? Well into the evening or late afternoon?

I've never been to one of these, let alone met anyone from here.

I have overnight guests, so we will be socializing until geriatric bed time. It was well after dark last year until we finished Scot's bike, but that was a result of a mishap. If there is work to be done we will be at it all day. Where in NOVA are you?

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, they generally last into the mid-late afternoon.
Beat you to it!
Noted.

BTW, I got a fraud notice call from my bank today...making sure "Traxxion Dynamics" was a legit charge. Guess my rebuilt forks could possibly be close at hand...I hope! I don't expect the rear shock for another week or so.

Ahh.. Thanks. I'm in Ashburn, VA.

Looks like it's only an hour and a half without traffic if I slab it the whole way.
