I am open all of October. There is talk of a ride at the end of the month. Lets keep the 12th and the 19th open and see what more people are open to.

Fairlaner, just remember the 6P's. Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. We all have lives and some need to plan further ahead than others. For those of us that pull every day out of our butts plannnig isnt necessary but it makes others feel better.

My Septembers and Octobers are pretty booked. This is worse then summer. Let me know what it is and I'll see if I can make it. :dribble:

 
ML-FJR13AE its a Cruise Control Install for those playing at home. There is a gentleman in the midwest that has it down to a science and does a pretty good job. Instead of breaking your nails while working on that icky motorcycle he is flying over to California and doing a few installs while he is here.

 
The only 05 parts i have left are the plastic bag covers in blue and a service manual.

Oh and a pair of mufflers.

I can do Sunday labor day weekend then the following weekend the mom inlaw is it town for the following week, after that I am completely open. Let me know what works for you. I have a garage big enough for 6 bikes if I remove the cars. I live in a townhouse to space is limited. I am willing to do this more than once.

Just getting to this... Am I too late for an invite to tech day? I need that PCIII farkle! Happy to observe only if there's no room in the garage!

 
Right now we are keeping Sunday the 12th and Sunday the 19th as open dates. After the memorial ride for TWN is over we will finalize this. Its on Sunday to let people have Saturday as a ride day.

Areas and things I know how to do

Install a PCIII

Rear Wheel removal for spline lube and brake pad replacement

Top Case Wiring for Light Kit

Oil Change

Radiator Flush and fill (Have not done on the FJR but have on other bikes)

Brake Pad Replacement. (Have not done on the FJR but have done on other bikes)

For all other issues or repairs I am hoping for a specialist to show up or I also have a shop manual to help get us through.

For those doing a PCIII install please have your map already installed and keep the 9v battery connected until it is installed on the bike. I do not have a laptop to be able to upload while on the bike. Unless someone is willing to bring one and allow us to borrow it.

What exactly is the advantage of a PCIII - I understand it maps or has something to do with the fuel injection(?).

I can bring a laptop but would need a power outlet - it sucks battery liek crazy.

If someone is really good at the electrical stuff then I could use a hand cleaning up my wiring to my added devices on the steering - or more so get a couple of good ideas/opinions what to install to get the most out of the bike for touring purposes - I hate clutter. I spoke to Keith out in Tulsa and he's able to put a wiring harness together as long as I know what I want to install; problem is that there's so much out there I don't know what's worth picking out and as we all know it can add up ($) really fast.

 
A PCIII (Power Commander) is basically an after market brain. When connect the signals delivered to the fuel injectors come from the PCIII and not the ECU. This can let the bike run richer or leaner at any given RPM range. When added with a performance air filter such as a K&N along with taking the bike to a performance shop where it can be dyno tuned, performace gains can be very positive. Not earth shattering but positive. For those of us that have a surging issue due to the stock ECU, the PCIII gets rid of this and makes the bike perform as designed. If your bike doesnt have a surging issue or you dont with to spend $$$ on filters, exhaust and dyno time then the need for a PCIII is not necessary.

I have power in the garage that is not a problem.

ML-FJR13AE you do know about fuse blocks right? The easiest way to keep all your electrical stuff neat is by adding a fuse block under the seat. They look like this Fuse Block

 
I realise I am joining this thread a little late. However, if there is room in Slappy's garage for another person then I would be interested in joining this tech day.

I am a fair novice at doing my own wrenching which is limited to changing oil and filters and some other fairly simple stuff. However, I would like to learn more. I do have a shop manual for a Gen I that I could bring down.

I just ordered a fuse block; I learned something again... Awesome - thank you !!!

Man, I gotta stay away from this forum; I'll end up with my pay check going into my bike every month.

As we get a little closer and we know how many is coming; I'll arrange for a BBQ with you for the tech day. Food will be on me if you will supply the grill. We'll talk about that later.

ML-FJR13AE, I also have a fuse block that I have yet to install on my 2005. I see you live in Burbank which isn't too far from where I live. Maybe we can split the food between the two of us and ride down together. LAroo

I've done a couple of fuseblock installs. I'd be happy to help with that if I can, if anyone needs that. Also have some tools that I can bring along (heat gun, shrink tube, crimpers, solder gun).

I also have the tool to do the steering head bearing that I can bring. I haven't had a chance to do this on my own bike yet, but I'm planning on doing this before the tech day, so I can offer help on that also.

FYI, I won't have my bike "in the garage", so you don't need to count me as an official tech day garage-space-taker-upper. (I will be watching the "spline lube presentation" closely - will there be handouts...? B) )

I already have a manual for GENII bikes. If you have a GenI manual that would always be helpful.

Neil, I was going to use your bike as the guinea pig for the rear end lube. Its easy as pie and it takes the least amount of time.
