I am aiming here to see if some farkles score an overwhelming positive response from FJR riders.

1) Escort 8500 X50 - or any other good radar detector - i would be a pedestrian without this

2) Garmin GPS - I currently is a Montana but any one is better than none

3) Russell Day Long - or perhaps some other custom seat, whatever works best for you

I looked up the Escort radar...it don't say its water proof. How do you run that gadget on your bike if its not weather proof? Did you have to put it in a waterproof container?

It is not waterproof. I built a small garage out of plexiglass that covers it. It does still get dripped on once in a while, but that doesn't seem to hurt it any.

There is a company that makes a waterproof radar detector, but it is more expensive and not rated as highly as the Escort and Valentine detectors.

This is difficult simply because I don't put anything on the bike that doesn't play a role in making it easier to ride for longer.

While my ride appears to be adorned with a mountain of extra gear, from the Aux. Tank to a USB Charger in the "D" Panel, each of them plays a role.

Personally I'd suggest that the best "farkle" is probably the bike itself, because it provides the platform for all the necessary gear to ride swiftly, and in comfort.

1. Scala Rider Communication

2. Russell Day Long (I dont have one for my Gen III ) yet. Had one on the Gen I and loved it.

3. Heated clothes

My fork mounted aux. lights are highly effective (I use them defensively).

My simply, I can't leave the house without a working 12V adapter, or my tank bag.

Prior to me getting a Gen III, an Audiovox Cruise Control. I installed one on my 2003 Kawasaki Concours right after I got it in August of 2002 (and it is still on there and working just fine).

Highway Pegs. I thought they were useless until I fell in love with week long cross country trips. Now, I can't imagine a long ride without them. :)

I would have to say I have 4 farkles that I would really miss if I didn't have them.

1. Autocom

2. GPS

3. Valetine1

4. MP3 player

Zumo connected to xm radio

Handle bar risers

Aux conspicuity lights

Admore brake lights in my top case

Heated grips

Throttle lock

Highway pegs

I enjoy the highway pegs, though my legs are long enough that actually riding on them for more a few minutes at a time isn't practical. They are good for a bit of a change when needed.

Because I spend a lot of time on the slab, I can't imagine not having an Audiovox Cruise Control.
