Yesterday sucked, today much better!

Woke up yesterday feeling ******, sore throat stuffy head, running a temp of 99F, Knee was more swollen and two Oxy's wasn't really touching the pain.

Temp up to 101 at noon so I called the Ortho folks as my instructions told me to do.

Doc said that the swelling and fever were normal as long as there was no overt sign of infection, redness weeping, discharge etc.

There wasn't. More Ice, keep elevated, I did.

2200 I was feeling really ****** and starting to sweat and shiver etc. Temp now 102.9, leg more swollen and sore, I told myself that if temp got to 103 I was going to go to the ER.

I went to bed about 2330 and at 2345 the fever broke, big sweat, soreness gone, felt much better in the AM, Temp normal, no Oxy today, Tylenol doing the trick.

We were supposed to go to friends tonight for Prime Rib at 6:00 PM, just finished my Turkey Sandwich. Three foot drift across the driveway. The Blizzard is here. I-90 will shut down from Wyoming to Chamberlain SD (Missouri River - 260 miles away) at 1900. They probably won't try to plow it until Monday afternoon.

BigJohn settling in for a "long winters nap"!

John, I've been lurking as I'm on the replacement fence. I gotta say that reading your recovery makes my knee feel much better.. Great to hear you are doing as expected.

Despite all the "Drama" it hurts less now than it did after an hour of Pheasant Hunting in November. Don't wait, do it now so you are ready for YFO

Sorry to hear of the minor set back and the loss of a prime rib dinner! Glad your feeling better, hope the long winter nap is a good one

Don't worry about the Prime Rib John. I ate enough for both of us

I had to plow the drift out of the driveway so guests could get in.

Work on getting better and when the weather is good you'll be ready to ride.

Remember, all that spare oxy that you won't be needing anymore would be a nice Christmas gift for your old RR5 room mate. I'll be needing it when I get my free, left-knee replacement, hopefully within the next 6 months.

Hope you stay on the mend, John.

PT today, fortified with Oxy beforehand, Therapist was pleased with "progress" so far:

Knee bends 110 degrees, straightens to 5 degrees, Not bad for the first day says he.

Working on Range of Motion for the next week, then strength. Just the little work we did today created enough pain that I needed good drugs and a nap this afternoon.

Scored a Recumbent Exercise Bike for $30 today, will pick it up tomorrow and get out of the house for a drive to Rapid City.

Things are looking up, the Glass remains half full and I see a lady with a pitcher coming down the hall!

It is the Washington guys that get Busted bringing drugs to South Dakota Greg, not the other way around, LOL

How much snow did you get?

Have you reached the end of the internet yet?

Nice to hear things are moving along, take care bud.

Good luck John! So far I have avoided those issues but the wife is pretty bionic these days.

I overdid stuff Tuesday at PT and had a fair bit of pain afterward, my little pills made it go away :) .

No Good drugs since then Tylenol controlling the pain fine.

Today, Thursday, second PT, swelling down some more with 105 degrees of flexion, lost a little bit there, and still 5 degrees short of straight.

Did the first strengthening exercises.

Therapist happy with my progress so far.

Transitioned to Cane for around the house, walker for outside for now

My pain now is less than my pain was before I had the surgery after any rough ground walking,

I'm quite happy with the result so far.

My neighbor has kept the driveway and sidewalks clear, glad he drinks cheap Scotch!

Happy New Year to all you clowns.

He likes and drinks Scoresby, which as far as I can tell has been through the horse once :) , the Country Club orders it just for him, no one else will drink it.

He doesn't and won't drink "the Good Stuff"!

I'm encouraged by your progress as I go in on February 13 for final pre-surgery meeting before replacement of my left knee. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to ride by mid-to-late April when I like to start some short rides and practice sessions after the 3 or 4 months over the winter when I get very little riding in. It sounds like that won't be a problem as long as I don't try to kick Ming, my Bengal cat. I'll be watching this thread for your reports.

Keep the healing going! I look forward to sharing some miles this summer with you.
