Surgery is never fun, but I'm looking forward to 0845 tomorrow morning when my painful and worn out right knee gets rejuvenated with a brand new custom Titanium and Plastic replacement joint. One night in the hospital if all goes well. Looking forward to the long promised Drug Cocktail but not the PT and work afterwords. All I'll have to do besides PT and Facebook is a few forums for the next few weeks.

Best of luck to you John. My advice - work hard at the PT but look past it and towards everything you got planned for next year. Big Picture!

Good luck John. I had the misfortune of needing major thoracic surgery last spring and I found the drugs to be the worst of it (for me) - hated the narcotic pain relievers even though they were absolutely necessary at first. Got off everything besides extra strength Tylenol within eight days of the surgery (three days after getting out of the hospital). My therapy for recovery was building up stamina by walking - cardio-vascular condition took awhile to get back (still working on it). Wasn't allowed to drive (or ride) for far too long! I am guessing you'll be dealing with building strength and maintaining range-of-motion while the new joint melds with the bone and flesh. Keep up with the PT and hope you're ready to rumble by the time MC season starts again. We're rooting for you!!!

You will never again be able to walk through the metal detectors in an airport without sounding the alarm!

Good luck John. Hope things go well and you're back chasing the Misses around the house toot-sweet!

Good Luck, that knee deal seams to be going around. Three friends from work in the last year! All have had good results, even my good bud Bruce the Sq Headed fisherman. He stayed off his 26 foot Fountain Center Counsel for the whole summer! If he can recover you can, do what they say and you will survive.

Enjoy the drugs John. After they are gone the real work begins. I haven't had one replaced but both knees and both elbows have been rebuilt along with a couple hernia's. PT is the key. Going through it now with the back. See you next year.:) :) :)

God speed John. Everyone I know that has had a knee or hip replacement has said they wished they had done it sooner.

As for the drugs.... remember, nothing says friendship more than sharing.

Best of luck tomorrow!

As for the down time, if you have any video streaming services (Netflix, Anazon Prime, etc.), it's a great opportunity to pass the time binge watching some series you would have liked to watch but never had the time to.

Keeping with the drug cocktail theme, following the first week post-op when I went back to work, my husband binge watched "Weeds" with knee number one, and I think "Breaking Bad" was what got him through knee number two.

Post up when you can to let us know how surgery went.

Take care in healing John and give your a wife a raise for having to put up with you in the house during PT.

Good luck John, titanium is great stuff...I'm also a member of that club (the bionic one)

Best of luck John! My F-I-L had both done many years ago. Therapy and how hard you work is a big part of your end result. Do what the docs tell you and I hope you have a hot young therapist as added incentive!

Wish you well.

Wifey had one done in May. Stopped much of the pain, but not perfect. Surgeon says it could take over a year to get as good as it can, hope yours does better than hers.

Couldn't have said it better, including the part about "Best of luck, John."
