FJR is main ride for any long trips (100+ miles from home). I own a Dodge Turbo Diesel truck but try to limit its use to trailer towing excursions, and use when weather is bad. Truck mileage past year = 7500 miles, FJR mileage = 14000.

Ice, gravel and salt on the roads keep me caged for @ 3 months of the year, otherwise the feej is my main machine.

When I lived in Victoria BC, I used to ride all year 'round...

I had to buy a battery tender....for the car. I utilize 3 different bikes, and if the battery is up to it, occasionally take the car.

Well.... Let's put it this way. Out of Necessity, I have three vehicles. A Big GMC Dually Box Van that's a Mobile X-ray Lab with 300lbs of Portable X-Ray Equipment

and an Automatic Film Processor. It serves a specific purpose. Don't use it much because the Airplanes can fly right into my Airport and roll right into my Hangar. :yahoo:

The Ford Explorer Limited is for the Ladies who get all dolled up on the weekend and don't want to ruin their hairdos for some fancy outing. That's rare too because I avoid those things like Poison. :assassin:

Thanks to High Tech State of the Art Electronics, just about everything I have to do (except X-Rays) gets done with a small, light weight, Hand held unit that fits in my side bags. :)

Milage really isn't the issue for me. If I don't need the truck or the Explorer, It's the FJR. That would be 90 out of 100 times that I have to leave the house for Anything! So, Yeah! It's the FJR! :D

1) 250 Kawa Ninjette, commuter of choice to ride to work. It's a hoot and gets about 60MPG in city traffic.

2) 1100 Moto Guzzi Ridden on 200-400 mile rides on most weekends....115,000 miles on the clock

3) FJR, Reserved mostly for long trips, about 10,000 miles a year.

4) Toyota Tacoma about 3000 miles a year.

My FJR is my main ride for most of the year. However when I get up in the moring like I have lately and see ice outside it's a 4 wheel affair.

ya know, I dismissed this thread as I've never commuted & consider bike riding recreation.

but now that I'm retired, I rode the bike 26k mi each last 2 years, and the cages about 8k.

Does that count here???

Yes, I believe it does!!

I have to drive the truck to transport the kids, to go run at the park (like Harald said, it sucks gearing up when you're all sweaty) and when the roads are icy, otherwise I ride the FJR. I put about twice the miles on the bike than the truck.

FJR is the main ride almost all the time when commuting. I have a wife and 3 kids so it is not the ONLY ride. It does get more miles that all other cars in the fleet combined though.

Well the FJR is my main ride.

2008 FJR (43.0 MPG) 44,058 miles.

2009 F350 (12.5 MPG) 9,600 miles.

Yeah, I would say it's my main ride.

Now if Alan (Ionbeam) takes his bike into work tomorrow I think I will buy him a beer the next time I see him. ;)

Or a hot chocolate, whichever he prefers. :cold:
