I have a question...
Do you know when and where the ceremony will be held?
No information as of yet, Mark. My first thought is that it will be held in Washington but I'm not sure if it is going to be a double ceremony or not. I should know in the next couple of days I would imagine.

Renegade, thanks for the sig addition.

Powerful, emotional story. "They never flinched". Amazing bravery, and a reminder to treasure the freedoms that our sons and daughters fight so hard to protect and preserve.

The right words escape me Chris.

Semper Fidelis Jordan. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice.

Chris,

Each time I read the story of Jordan's action my eyes tear up. Thank you so much for raising such an exceptional human being.

Axeman,
There is no possible description or award of valor and selflessness higher than what Jordan displayed on that fateful day, April the 22nd, 2008. The Navy Cross is clearly deserved.

I have a hard time putting to words what it means to me, and to the rest of our country. It matters not what anyone believes about this war, or the last one, or the Iraqis, or anyone else. It matters only what you believe about your country, your people, your neighbors, your duty...

Ditto ,,,,, I really couldn't think of anything to say ,, thanks,, Fred W

And to all that have served and are serving ,,,, THANK YOU ,,,

Everyone,

Here's a local story that says the ceremony is this Friday 2/20/09 but gives no details.

After reading the paper yesterday it stirred up memories of Jordan's sacrifice.

God Bless all who serve...

I'm heading out tomorrow for the ceremony on Friday. The ceremony is going to take place at the Museum of the Marine Corps at 11:00 AM and the public is invited. They are expecting around 600 to attend. The Secretary of the Navy will make the presentation, the Commandant of the Corps will be there along with Major General Kelly from Iraq. For you PGR guys, they are graciously going to afford us a flag line at the entrance to the museum. The ceremony itself couldn't be in a more fitting location. We wanted the public to be able to witness it and what better place than Quantico Virginia to honor the Marines.

Thank you everyone for your PM, post's, and kind words.....Wish me luck, it may be a rough one...

I will take a private moment tomorrow and pay tribute to your son, in my own way.

We are all with and for you, Axe..

I'm not sure how I want to respond to this.......

I had a son who spent a year in Bosnia and I worried the whole thime he was there but thank God he made it hone OK.

I spent 4 years in the Air Force and 33 years working at a VA hopsital so it go without saying that our Vets mean something to me.

I can't put my head around the loss of a son but if it were to happen I can't think of a better way than serving his country.

Nothing can ever make up for the loss you must feel but at the same time nothing can replace how proud you must feel. My thoughts are with you.
