Dude that is Bokerforked.
Ding, Ding, Ding: You're the Winner, johnny80s! We've a new FJR Forum verb for 2011. From now on, whenever anything is FUBAR: We just say it's Bokerforked!

Eureka, We Have Found It!
I can't take credit. I stole it from Bokerfork. He explained it in the thread about the origin of forum names. I wanted him to know I was paying attention. I should get an "A" for Bokerforking that one, huh.

ST? Sport Touring...Hmmm seems to me the original FJR initiated a new bike catagory. The SST. Super Sport Touring. Kinda woke up the folks in Honda,( ST 1300), BMW with whatever they now offer. Kawasaki Concours 1400. Not ST but SST. Each has its attributes and they compete with each other. All good in my opinion. For me anyone of these bikes deliver what I want: Sport bike power, great handling, comfort and ability to carry some groceries. Me thinks this is the wave of the future not the end. Bill

+1 Amen, Gunny!!!!

i dont know if you come from a cruiser like i did. It brought riding to life again. Im on my 2nd st and i think they are great bikes. I think if I had come off a sport bike it would be a different story. I can only afford 1 bike at a time and its the right one for me.I used to race mx so I

have a little need for speed and the fjr surely takes care of that. But what ever floats your boat

Hell, I've been dead for 41.5 years. Just waiting to get buried. (drowned when I was young) Seems like the dead ST fad fits me perfectly.

When I found the FJR, I was specifically looking for something that wasn't a GoldWing, wasn't a crotch rocket, had good headlights, side bags for storage, sporty styling and big hairy balls. It was love at first sight.

The reason that Honda finally dropped the ST1300... because they uglied the damn thing up so badly, nobody wants one. The market for people willing to ride an ugly chik, just to ride a Honda, finally became saturated and sales dried up.

Yamaha must find a way to compel Gen-I FJR owners to buy a new bike, or the FJR is indeed doomed to the same ST1300 fate.

Do you think MamaYama has an FJR successor 'in the works' ? I don't...

Yamaha U.S. (Cypress) didn't want the FJR in the first place...

I think they, Cypress, would feel (if the S-T segment were gone), they could go back to focusing on cruisers -- their 'first love'...? ;)

Excellent points in the last three posts.

I think Mamma Y thinks the Super 10 Ray is the next successor to the Feej. They seem to have put their eggs in that basket.

If I were a Yammie exec (or stock holder, FTM) I could be convinced that this is actually the case.

It won't be, of course, a direct replacement. A lumpy 2 cylinder will never be able to replace the quad piston bliss we've come to know and love. But it will be close enough. Which means that there is a real possibility that the FJR may be discontinued due to lack of interest in the next few years, especially if the 10Ray cannibalizes some of the weak Gen2 FJR sales even further.

Ray is right. Can't live with one bike.

But they also don't have to be "single purpose" bikes unless you are "single purpose" kind of person. Do you have to own the bike that is the very best at that particular endeavor, or can you just have fun with one that will do what you want it to?

I have 2 ST bikes and an ADV bike, all of which are by definition (at least) dual purpose bikes. And all 3 are different enough from each other to keep things fun for me.

If you think that any ADV bike suffers less from the dual purpose dilemma of being a jack of all trades, master of none (as compared the single purpose bikes), then you have not been paying attention and will be sorely dissappointed when you do get your ADV bike.

You've made some excellent points Fred, but how in the hell can we listen to someone that has a picture of BeemerDon in a dress for his Avatar??

You guys are so Bokerforked! Merry Christmas Wheatie, real nice compliment!

You guys need to get out and ride. Oh, sorry, you can't. The OP has really got this all forked up.
https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=134374 Happy Holidays, Test Pilot! It's actually only WheatonFJR that can't get out and ride, with his being from the Chicago fecking cold. Big Dan and Papa Chuy are from Arizona, and RadioHowie is from the Sunshine State of Florida. Here are photos of Tuesday's ride to Gila Bend and Palo Verde.

Boyz, my eyelids are starting to droop! Maybe a sportdualsportadventuresportsporttouringtouringendurocruiser with lots of bells and whistles will do the trick. No?

After 36 years of riding naked bikes I was looking for something that would extend my range and riding season, yet still let me have some fun in the twisties plus take an occasional brisk run down the drag strip. I also wanted the passenger to be a bit more comfy than what the V-Max or XS400 offered <_< The FJR fit the bill for us, no matter how it was classified in the motorcycle world. My next motorcycle will also be expected to meet this criteria too, no matter how it may be classified. I hope some Pious Prius driving, marketing dweeb doesn't decide that what we need in place of the FJR is a V-Twin Dirt Cruiser or a variable engine displacement, automatic transmission VFR with a HondaBaja™ package and non-removable, integrated 0.75 cu/ft touring luggage. I also don't look forward to being forced into using a Goldwing to tow an R1 in order to have a Sport Tourer.

That's it -- the next, new, big-thing, must have...! ;)

(don't forget -- it's gotta have knobbies, too, for the street... :) )
