I was looking at the cee baileys Shields, I'm thinking it would be nice to go with the darker tent, to keep the sun off the instruments and also hide the dash a bit better.

Has anyone ever tried the Dark tented shield they make? Or can I just use some of that window tint you buy at Pep-Boys and do my own? :D

I also think the headlight protection would be a great idea. I guess I didn't know about those, should of got them when the bikes was new. :D

Anyway........Thanks for any input you might have............

Actually, Warchild's dark tint is the special brand called "flat black Krylon".

I talked with a professional tinter and you the film doesn't stay stuck to plexiglass.

That said, I have a dark smoke CeeBailey's and love it! Pondered Krylon painting my stock one too if I ever put it back on.

Thanks ya'll for your time and information.

Ignacio: I would like to get the Dark Shield, In your Opinion, is there any issues with the dark shield and night riding, I'm gonna stay with the stock size, just want the dark tint, both for looks, :assasin: and for security. did you find any draw backs?

Thanks

Frankly, I don't think there's an issue riding at night, but I don't really ever look through the thing. I don't think I look through the clear one either. No issue to me.

Maybe some parking lot, slow speed, close quarter stuff I've noticed the shield obstructing views, but then I just lower the thing anyway.

You still can look through it--it's just kinda like looking out the rear view mirror when you have tinted windows in cars.

Hey you guys that have the ceebaileys shield!

Who do you order it from, how does it work, I live in California, I noticed they have a list of dealers. So who did ya'll order from. I've never bought anything out of country. I'm out of country shipping challenged :D

Thug I really like the way yours looks on your bike, did the "flip" really cut down on the wind? I have the 05, I'm gonna order with the stock size, But am considering the flip?

I'm also going to get the blue headlight protectores.......Maybe?

Thanks Thug, and everyone for your input and information.

OH, DO NOT GET THE FLIP!!!!!!!!!

I picked up a CB w/flip... I hate the Fing flip.

Might I suggest the ultra-dark smoke tint that Warchild uses?

I have the +4/+4 no-flip, it's ok, but I need to find a position that I don't look through the screen/sky split.

I wouldn't go with the dark screen like on Timex, there's some evidence that leads to tick's after you do 1088 miles in a day.

Hey Woody, Have another drink! :D
hehe, I can't, the bottle's too damn heavy. I'm going to hang out on the front patio and sober up. Guys, if you're wife-shoping, the number 1 feature is someone you can give you keys to when you think you might have a couple of drinks and that will just take the damn keys from you and won't argue about whether you should drink or not. Save that argument for later.

Oh, and if you can show her a really cool looking red R1 and say "could you paint my FJR that color", and if you get up in the morning, and your FJR is really that cool red R1 color, then you have a keeper. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Warchild,

Have you done a write up on cutting the screen and tinting it? I know you used flat black paint, but any chance there is a full write up anywhere? I'm thinking of taking my stock screen and creating a summer cut down and tinted version as you did.

dgfella

write up:

tape the 'outside' of the screen.

paint the 'inside' of the screen with plasti-cote spray paint

allow to dry

remove tape

mount on bike

btw: (yes, it's morning, yes, I actually made it into work), to get back on-topic, I have the ice-blue CB and it's pretty good. It's a lot lighter blue than some of the blue-tint pictures I've seen.
