... did that get Dr. Rich's undies in a bunch?

Funny you ask that. When we took off from the meeting spot I was in front with OM and the DR behind me and I figured I would take it easy and enjoy the scenery. This was after 300 miles of trying to keep up with Fairlaner. Dr. Rich didnt seem to like that and was the first to start passing. The picture you see is me catching up to him. I think he is hidden in front of the van

There is no reason to have a double yellow at that spot anyway, as you can see the road was pretty damn straight and you could see for miles ahead.

Rich has NOTHING against aggressive riding, and wicking it up on a nice road.

And he knows how to ride.

And (HYCLE tells me) he doesn't wear undies.

And he'd never tell someone else how they should be riding.

And, he doesn't need my ass defending him.

So, I'll stop.

It would be great if the PCH allowed only motorcycles, though. :D

At least from the Oregon border to L.A.

Once again Old Michael, another fantastic Ride Report from you, accompanied by outstanding photographs. Many thanks for not publishing the "Art Nouveau" pictures of you and I together in the hot tub Sunday night. While these photos would be perfectly acceptable in Paris, Dublin and the rest of Europe; probably would not be appreciated here on the Frontier. Mas Caminos y Mas Amigos. Suerte, Papa Chuy

Sat here for a good long while, contemplating life, and the coming of spring, and what the future may hold.

...And whether I should pick up a six-pack on my way home, or go back out later.

Poor bike, he kinda dwarfs it doesn't he?

You should see me on it.
Thanks again for the invite OM. It was good seeing all of you again. I just wish I had the day for a trip down the coast.

Perhaps not entirely legal, I don't know; but not unsafe by any means: one-mile sight distance, no cross traffic, dry pavement, acceleration advantage. I personally like a little more distance between the car and myself when passing, and aim for the far-left wheel track in the opposing lane.

But this is why Hwy 1 is such a mixed blessing: You get sight-seers and "regulators" slogging along below speed limit or average speed of traffic, and you wind up staring at the bumper of a motor home or car, and then making aggressive passing maneuvers that are perfectly legal across broken yellows, but are short, or you get frustrated and get tempted to cross a DY. I don't like to ride it much.

And BTW, OM, great ride report. Thanks. That was the weekend I was doing my overnight to Joshua Tree and back. And speaking of which, the summer X-country trip is off as a result.
