The more i read about riding in Alaska, the more i hear about how the road conditions change frequently, and drastically.

I was wondering if some of the guys with exp riding in this sort of environment would recommend a certain tire, or have a favorite tire they use. Im about due for a new set and wanted to make sure i got what i needed. If i am able while im up there, i plan on checking out a little of the Northwest Territories and heard the roads up there are under constant assault as well.

Thanks for any input, i know tire threads are a dime a dozen, and i tried searching them but couldnt quite find specifically what i was looking for. Not just a good rain tire, but more apt to deal with the conditions of the roads up there.

One's opinion would depend on your latent abilities, learned skills and personal comfort zone.

Bluestreek and MCML are up there right now and have been since CFR on June 19th-21st.

Bluestreek (Steve) has PR2s mounted, I'm not sure what Joe (MCML) is running. I s'pose it depends on what you intend to do and what roads you intend to ride. So far they've been on pavement, dirt and gravel....and in the rain, too.

Linky Thingy to their ongoing ride report.

Since joining here i have been riveted to that thread lol. Just couldnt find a tire type listed there. The conditions they are driving through are exactly what i was referring to, spot on.
