So, I recently got back from a weeklong solo trip to the Smokies, and wanted to make some videos of it. I downloaded a trial version of Cyberlink Power Director 12, and dove in. A lot of it is over my head, but was able to get the basics down fairly quickly...fairly. These are my first 2 attempts: the BRP and RT. 151 heading up to the BRP. I plan to learn more about editing, to make them more interesting, but these are just taking them and posting. The second one I tried to do something with the music about halfway in.

These might not play on mobile, due to some copyright bs on YouTube.

Flame on guys!

Always nice to relive the good rides & have some good videos of them. I think you did well for your first attempts here. 151 is a great / fun entry road up to the BRP. Nice to see the sun shining and the autumn leafs falling. Good stuff. TFS!

I noticed the the vast majority of FJR riders on this site aren't really into ride videos. Kind of weird. But I certainly enjoy them.

Thanks GR, I too like ride videos. It is cool to see others, and the roads they rode, from their perspective. I have yet to make one of The Dragon, as that will take some serious editing to get it within reason time wise.

Probably because I live in Florida, but that area seems like Mecca to me!

LOL....yeah I see you live in "Flatistan"...that's funny! Let me know if you head up this way & if I can meet up & ride with you I will. The mountain twisties are addicting that's for sure!

Your video quality is good and yeah, editing is key. Try to avoid extended shots of the bike simply riding down the road. Use quicker clips of the good parts and captions or voice over are nice to explain what's going on. Next time you watch TV or movie notice that shots are rarely more than a few seconds long. Unless there's a lot of really interesting stuff keep total time to no more than around 3 minutes - the length of a typical popular song. People get bored easy.

Here's a video I made earlier in the year. Content is so-so, but the editing is a decent example.

GR, next time I head up that way I will let you know. Would really like the opportunity to ride with someone that knows the roads well.

Lee, thank you for the tips with editing. I have already started taking shots of different POVs while riding (ex. shots of me from dash, low side of fairing, and even from back of bike looking back). Condensing to 3 minutes or so will take a lot of effort on my part, especially the videos from my trip. Flatistan, not so much. Thanks again.

Very nice video, I think you did an excellent job! I hope to see more, thank you for sharing your video.

Good video. I've found that iMovie does a good enough job for the things I do and it comes free with the OS. There should be enough options out there in freeware to do what you need without a big investment.

So here is another I did recently, though it's from riding the Dragon last October, and I tried to break it up some (unlike my others).

I'm still not where I want to be yet, as I still take too much time and become impatient, but I am getting more familiar with the editing program. Anyway, here it is.

Thanks Ty, the 1st half is how I rode it, the 2nd half is how I felt I rode it. :)

Thanks for looking at it!
