190/55 equals-lower cruising rpm

less speedo error

less miles on the odo

quicker turn in--yup that's right-you just jacked the arse end 1/2 inch which steepens rake and the 190/55 has a sharper profile

easier to put on the center stand

costs more

looks phatt without having a clown CT out back

only @ 2% on the good stuff

Avons run bigger than Michelins ,meebee next tire I'll try the Storn Ultra..
My experience is the same. Only downside I see to the 195/55 is cost.

Maybe...well, probably not...but they'd sure as hell wear out faster!
The fallacy of your tongue-in-cheek question is the questionable premise that motorcycle tires somehow guarantee to make your bike handle better.
Just a joke Howie not a jab at your car tire. I think the Darksider thing is cool, I would never have thought of it. However, I'm pretty sure using motorcycle tires on my motorcycle will not make it handle worse.
Neither will using a car tire!

Can I get one with wide whitewalls?

I was "Radiohowie" over there, too, but it's been 8 years since I was a "regular". About the time I got my FJR, seat time on the ZRX diminished drastically. Had 25,000 miles on it when I bought the Feej in '05...8 years later, I'm up to 35,000 miles. In the meanwhile, I've put 75,000 on the Feej!

Maybe THAT'S why MissusHowie keeps nagging me to sell the ZRX? Screw her!!!! One can NEVER have too many bikes!

Just upsized to the 190 55 'stone....Very noticeably taller when i dropped it off the center stand. No ride on it yet--but it looks great!

Spud- Nice Darth Vader Black Feej ya got :) ...glad you went to the FatSide n not the DarkSide ;)

I'm still Fatsider #1 and ain't given it up soon evah!.

Luv da way the taller tire makes the bike just want to dive into the corners. Running PR2's.

Here's a side by side comparison of a 190/55 and a 180/55 in my garage that we were doing on my buds sportbike. I've got 6 FatSiders installed to my credit to date and all with hype and happiness from da owners :) I also changed a K1600's but it already had the 190/55... but my brain was ticking... 200's?, 210's? hehe.

It's more about the change in diameter than the width change anyway. 'though lookin' at KJ's setup at CFR it seems the added width must make it harder to get to the sides of those tires.

Fred, it was more an issue of being behind that moving roadblock of a cowisucky and couldn't reach velocities that required any lean.

I can bitch (and I do!) at Steamer for riding a sportbike like a scooter...

BUT, now I have a natural boat anchor coming with me to NERDS..... Debbie! ...she freaks out when we lean over and she hears (or probably more so "feels") a lil grinding.

When you add a taller rear tire, you are changing the geometry of the bike. Now the rear is up higher than the front. Turn in will be easier, but now your suspension needs adjusted to level the bike again.
