*******.

Go ahead and taunt all us poor mofos that can't make it this year.

Good luck and best wishes for all the 1088 riders this year. Have fun.

At least I won't be getting the rock. I am sure Iggy will earn a repeat performance.

Personally, I'm looking forward to some real sunshine. It rained on us yesterday in Mt. Rainer Nat. Park while running around during the Volcano Run.

Mid 90's won't be too bad compared to the 100*+ stuff I have been riding in around Phoenix the last two weeks. This will be my first rally and I am excited to get on the road and take a shot at this.

Burk :yahoo:

And the St George forecast...

>>>>>>>>I am just so sure Steve wouldn't send us to southern Utah in this kind of heat............<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 70.

Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 101.

Hydration is the KEY!

Last year I waited too long to get the Blackbird ready for the Utah 1088.... not the case this year on the Gen II Hayabusa!

Finished the last mod several days ago, and have been exercising the bike thoroughly to ensure everything is working as intended.

I will be the sole Hayabusa on the Start Line.

Brian Roberts is bringing his Blackbird; we will be the Fastest Men there, pretty sure about that.

The final, 11th-hour mod was a Ram Mount for the GPSIII+... the cockpit is starting to get a pinch crowded.... here's what it looks like this morning:

A ==> Heat-Troller, located immediately adjacent the non-throttle hand for quick easy fine-tuning of the Warm-N-Safe heated liner.

B ==> Pro-Oiler control module. This is what allows Endurance Riding on chain-drive motorcycles without a centerstand. The oil reservoir is fairly large (400ml) and is good for 3000-4000 miles between fill-ups.

C ==> GPSIII+, a fairly dated GPS - over 9 years old - that still works for my needs.

D ==> Valentine One Remote Display. 'Nuff said.

E ==> Datel Voltmeter, needed more than ever with the Busa's paltry 400-watt stator

Was it hard to find space for the ballasts on the HID's? I can't believe there is a lot of room in the nose of a busa.

Warchild, if you pass thru SLC and want to pick up a particular "art disc" just lemme know and I'll ride up along side and tuck it in your duffle bag... if I can keep up!

Better yet, if you need to stop for a cold one and a roll in the sprinklers to cool off, just call! BBQ awaits...

Ride on!

Chris

That Cockpit is not bad at all - looks good. I would love to put the V1 Remote Display only up front there but that would require some rewiring and putting the main unit somewhere like the tankbag - severely impacting my ability to ride without the tankbag (when I am joy riding in the Sierra') and ability to make quick fuel stops. So I put the whole unit up there on a little dash of my own making.

As you can see the Bird is all prepped and shod with new shoes after running 1250 plus in both the Nevada 1099 and Cal 24 a couple of weeks ago. The old BT020 front tire was so badly scalloped my instruments were a blur above XX minimum speed limiting my ability to chase down FJR's. I thought it would shake my V1 into detector heaven. A brand new Pilot Power CT2 front tire should take care of that while an old Pilot Power will handle the job at the rear. Fit and trim without saddlebags thanks to the new Kuryakyn tail bag where I can keep tools and rally gear.

Still - the ole gal will need a shot of nitrous to keep up with the K8 - Ponies is Ponies...

I roll out from Phoenix at 0400 tomorrow. Looks like a nice place. I'm looking forward to a whole lotta fun.

99F when I arrived at 3:30 this afternoon. Hottest point of the ride.
Hey Hal ...looks like you're there plenty early to rest, hydrate and prepare ...Ride hard and safe and have some good fun!!!

-------------------

Been trackin' the iggster ...I see he left WA around 1:00a and seems he is making nice tracks toward SLC

---as I type this his last known location was here: 41.6105 , -112.0831

Google map of that spot shows Matt in the passing lane, going by a truck, both feet on the bars, cigar in mouth and his GPS pointed for the Mecca of LD riding this weekend -The 1088. Look close, you'll see it ...I circled it in red to help you out.

That one made me blow a snot bubble!

Just got here. I'm sitting naked as I type this....so snot bubbles can come out of your nose.

Very drowsy. Gonna make one more trip to the bike and then it's shower and nappy time.

I spooned on my last Azarro rear for this trip after a Storm, BT-021, and ME-880 from last year. Damn, I miss Azarros. They rock.

YES, they do!

Still got two sets left. :yahoo:

Good luck my friend. Wishing I was there.

There is a rumor that the 1088 was cancelled because Matt, in a advanced state of fatigue, walked out to his bike one last time, but forgot to put on clothes first. Several riders began to bleed from the eyes, and a 911 call went out to the local HazMatt (typo on purpose) team.

Good luck guys. Wish I was there, instead of stuck in my damn office.

Yep, saw that ...and that is when I quit taking your coordinates and getting the live feeds off of Google Earth. No thanks on seeing that again. However, if you put your clothes back on, I may be tracking you during the rally.

Ran a few sets and don't miss those funky things a bit ...we're all different. Maybe it's a naked thing.

Good luck my friend. Wishing I was there.
Yep, I'll sure agree with you on that.
