So who else got a new big screen on Friday? I picked up a new 47" Vizio and new TV stand for it.

I went from this 8-9 year old 27" RCA with no fun features:

to this!

nice improvement, eh? :D

By the way, I'd like to thank the Giants for showing up for today's game. And then I'd like to thank Fox for taking the game off TV because it wasn't competitive anymore. I was having a good afternoon. :p

So who else got some fun new toys over the holiday??

That's a big improvement. Especially cuz in the 2nd picture, the TV is ON! :)

I'm holding out for a 3LCD 1080p front projector to give me a 140" screen. Didn't see any good ads, and wasn't about to go "shop" for one.

I didn't get anything on Black Friday, but I did get in on a few pre-Black Friday deals. Got me a new HD-DVD player, and got a new PC that'll be my mom's Christmas gift.

Besides, right now the last thing I need in my house is another big screen TV...

Very nice Fjrchik. I scored a big screen as well. I went from a 27" JVC to a 37" Sharp Aquos. SWEET! Went with the 37" as that's as big as my small living room could handle. It's now fun to watch football games again. Waiting to see the Pats tonight. :clapping:

Tom

So - is there an optional mesh screen to protect the TV from flying objects? Like beer bottles?

Very nice!!

The SO and I have been discussing a flat screen now that the prices are down where they won't interfere with our son's tuition costs -

Our first TV was a 27" Zenith we bought in 1980, and it finally gave up the ghost in 2002 - and we replaced it with a Mitsubishi 32" HDTV - which is now dying. Amazing how we got 22 years out of the Zenith - and 5 out of the Mitsubishi -

I hope that's not a trend !

Nice score!

I went to the HD side last year. 63" DLP in the "man room" and a 50" plasma in the family room. Gotta love those football games in HD!

This year I'm finally going to replace the worn out CRT in the bedroom. Got my eye on a 26" LCD Westinghouse unit at Sam's with a built-in DVD for that application.

Now, will the cable companies and dish companies please get with it so that we can stop using their boxes? My HDTV's are digital ready, for Christ's sake!

You really ought to take those marker pens off the kids though it's going to play havoc with your viewing! :yahoo:

It is. A friend of mine owns a electronic repair shop & has seen the quality of the parts that make up the stuff go down, since all anyone seems to care about is initial cost. Most tv's, vcr's, dvd's, ect. are considered throw-aways by consumers as it costs more to repair them than replace them. Most of his business now is warranty work from retailers, w/the occasional tape/dvd removal- always **** that got stuck in the machine & was needed out either to return or before someone came home ($50.00).

We got a new washing machine , now how exciting is that  :glare: . The other gave out a day before Thanksgiving :angry2: .

Michelle, I'm glad your feeling better and now it looks like you are feeling goo-ood. Besides, it'll be much easier to dust behind the new acquisition, yeah...that's right...put it under the housecleaning budget!

Ya' done good, gal!

Suuuure! Now I feel really behind the times and I'll probably have to go and buy the new flat screen I've been looking at. Its bad enough I watched the "kid's" 57" TV and caught all the games on Thursday and Friday. NOW Michelle goes and posts this......

Ooops, am I thinking out loud again. Danged brain injury!

Tom
hey hey!! this isn't a competition! i already know about Warchild's new toy, i saw the thread. (can't believe you got rid of your beautiful R1 for that!) ;)

I thought for sure someone would post up with a new Lexus in the driveway with the big red ribbon on it! (thats my christmas dream someday!) maybe we'll have to wait and see what Santa brings everyone.

Yes, i got my present early, because I'll be out in LA over the holidays. If anyone wants to get together in 3 or so weeks, gimme a PM! I'll be there for 12 days! B) I'll also be in Monterey on Dec. 29th if any of you more NorCal guys wanna come hang out and have drinks. But back in LA for NYE. Where's the big party for NYE?

Mikey,

I am just today starting to feel better. I spent all day on the phone with family because I couldn't talk since Wednesday night. I had no voice until this morning really. But I think I've turned the corner now and am heading towards wellness again!

I did something on Thanksgiving that turned out unexpectedly cool. I texted a buncha friends and family wishing them a happy thanksgiving in the morning. I ended up getting text messages back throughout the whole day from everyone. It was very nice! Constantly reminded me that this is day to give thanks on and that they were kind enough to return a reply. I heard back from everyone!
