What did you learn this year (2008)?

I learned the best riding partner I could ever have is my wife.

GUNNY! My wife is the best riding partner I have ever ridden with. She can do a 2up 700 mile day or a 350 mile day in the driving rain or 250 mile day in 24 to 40 degree temperatures and still be happy. :p Those of you that we have ridden with us know what I am talking about.

I too learned this year what a beautiful country this is. We took a 3200 mile trip through South Dakota and back in seven days. It was one of the best trips we have taken and we are looking forward to next year's trip.

I continually learn how amazing it is to watch our kids grow up. (And what fun it is to scare the **** out of would be boy friends)

I learned how short life is and not to take it for granted. There have been a few who have been taken too soon, although I never met them personally I do miss their contributions to this forum. I also the tremendous outpouring and support this forum has for it's members.

I also learned that there are many great members on this forum and have had the pleasure to meet many of them in the NW on various rides and look forward to many more in the future! :yahoo:

That my wife is right much more often than I'd like to think.

(actually, I relearn this every year...)

The highlight for me was unquestionably my 50CC from San Diego to Jacksonville. Just under 2400 miles in 45 hours. Lots of fun and including the round trip, 5,000 miles in 7 days.

Other highlights included: White Stag (coming up again), the Low Cal 250, TWN Memorial (sad occasion, but good to be around such great and classy people), Land of Enchantment Rally, Pinks Ride to Eat, and finally the Hard Miles premier.

Hope the new year brings more trips. I know I will be cheering on several forum members next August...

Life is for living.

Celebrate diversity by buying more and different bikes.

Ride, even when you don't feel like it. You might just learn something.

Challenge yourelf. Afraid of night riding? Go ride at night.

Afraid of riding wet and cold? Go ride a cold rain storm.

No matter where you go, there you are.

If your head is messed up when you leave, it will be messed up when you arrive.

Feed your head.

Ari Rankum confuses me yet somehow stimulates the cranium scareabellieum.

Politics, motorcycles, religion, and motorcycles, *** and motorycycles, are all interconnected.

Party like a rock star doesn't count if you get to bed by 8pm every night...

I learned that :

- riding on the interstate for 3 hours at 90 to 120 without stopping makes it hard to lean into 15 mph off-ramps. (no bumps just a wake up call)

- Crusier folks stop for gas a lot.

- Bikers make the best friends, no matter what they ride

- loud HORNS scare dogs and deer

- it can rain too hard

Happy New Year !

Many a good word here... :clapping:

That depends

If you mean learn - to gain knowledge or understanding well ... not a damn thing

If you mean learn - to come to realize I've been reminded that I really need to keep my mouth shut. People listen... and they remember ... and they take things literally.

At a recent family gathering, I said: "I like to travel alone, but I don't like to sleep alone." My wife punched me in the arm for that one.

My mother-in-law was ill and my wife was spending the night at her mom's. In 2008 I learned not to say "That's it, I'm going on eHarmony."

I also learned that on this Forum you can't post "You have until January 20, 2009"

deeper self awareness gained = none

:p

learn - to come to realize

Well.. I've come to realize that I've passed the summit of the big hill; it's all downhill from here and I don't plan on using the brakes. :exclamation:

My 'bucket list " of places to ride to is still a long one. B)
