What is a option from another bike you miss on your FJR?

Bike before the FJR was a big cruiser. Well, actually I still have it. So I guess I don't really

miss anything cause I can ride it still.

However, if the FJR was my only bike.

1. Top loading bags. Not a fan of the side loading bags.

2. Being able to flat foot the bike.

With that being said. It's a minor amount of miss on either. I have no desire to go back to

a cruiser being my only bike.

I really like the FJR and it's a keeper, but it has some maintenance issues that were better on other bikes. There were not options, they were standard equipment.

1. Lower fork leg drain screws

2. Zerks on all monoshock linkage pivots

3. Rear brake pedal pivot zerk

Yes it did, and I had some fun with it by playing a recording of a John Deer tractor exhaust-sound with the volume all the way up, entering a parking lot at a rally.

Do a little reading here on the Forum before you start. You may want to work out a plan for some things like a VSS signal.

I miss HP & torque and a very good turn signal canceling circuit like my Honda had. Just about everything else is better. That's what happens when a rider moves up from trash bikes to a newer and fundamentally better bike.

Already ahead of you... I plan on using the ABS signal to the ECM for the VSS.... Mounting the control pad, that I am still thinking about...

Don't mean to change topics here but.... You are going to have to reduce the pulse rate from that VSS source quite a bit. It's way to high for the Rostra to use. Hopefully you have already figured this out. I had to use the magnetic sensor to get mine to work and was never happy with how it worked. I hope you have more success than I did! Good luck!

They had a cassette tape player until they stopped selling them just a few years ago! I had a Yamaha Venture (2004, I think). I never used the tape player but there was an auxiliary input you could use for an MP3. Missed the stereo on that bike as well as the self-cancelling turn signals. The Venture also had cruise control but I rarely used it and don't really miss it on the FJR.

My 1985 Honda CB700SC Nighthawk S had hydraulics for the valves, no need to ever remove the valve cover.

The FJR would benefit from the same system (not rpm limited and worth the money).

Victory Motorcycle Engines are SOHC with hydraulic lifters, makes for a nice low maintenance package.

I miss how damn friggin good that bike looked, compared to my boring silver. I still wouldn't trade back though, love my FJR too much.

I miss the way the oil filter on my ST1300 would spill oil all over the centerstand EVERY time I changed the oil. This would lubricate and rustproof at the same time. I miss the way the low beam headlights would not adjust up enough to see more than 50 yards up the road. I miss the fact that nobody knew what the hell it was but everybody thought it was ugly. I miss the extra 80 pounds of weight. I miss the way crosswinds blew it all over the place.

I still love that ST1300 but I do not actually miss it.

I do seriously miss those low mounted mirrors though. They were perfect for me.

And like Uncle Hud, if I go waaaay back in time... I miss having to explain to Dad why it always took me so long to get home from school when I rode his '84 GoldWing. I miss having to explain to Dad why our spare helmet always smelled like perfume.

But I think the OP really meant something different when he posted.

My FJR has more options than any bike I ever had. It is also more fun than any bike I ever had. It's faster, smoother, more reliable, easier to maintain, and just downright more purdy.

I guess I don't get the OP's question.

Actually, I do...I'm just being a jerk. I'm angry because I never had a bike with self canceling turn signals, or cruise control. Hell, the only two bikes I ever had with functional windshields have been this one and my VTX. Poor me! Haha...

I have and have had motorcycles with self-canceling turn signals. As an engineer I'm sure I could do better but as implemented on 2002 GL1800 and 2007 BMW F800S I'd rather disable and cancel manually.

Talk about ridiculous, Goldwings for Japanese home market have windshield wipers.
