-22F (-30C) in Red WIng, MN this morning. Ugh... just a few days more and we'll almost see 30F.

Still have windchill warnings, at these low temps any breeze cuts right to the bone.

New England is transitioning out of Pot Hole Season into Frost Heave Season. Fortunately (?) it doesn't look like we will get anyplace close to 32º for at least a week which will hold off any worsening of the Frost Heaves. Shortly after peak Frost Heave Season we move into Mud Season.

-13 here this morning. Yesterday I drove down a street that had a whoops section, I was in my Suburban and that wasn't terrible, I think in my car I would have been limited to about 5mph. Supposed to be 36 here on Friday so that will make the frost heaves worse.

Sleet and sheets of ice yesterday. I called the office and they report a 2 hour delayed opening today. Good thing I retired a year ago this past November.

It is raining in Seattle.

Of course that's a bit like saying, "'War and Peace' is a long book."

What is a little unusual is the amount of rain. It isn't merely "damp" out there. No, no. It is actively wet.

Raining here on the high desert. Usually snow this time of year. They are learning how to spell flood this year.

Weather Redux, or Spring Sprung here today!

Saturday and Sunday just plain sucked, mid teens Below Zero with light snow,

Temp today was 50F a 65 degree improvement, much better, now to get the slop off the streets and the bike out of the garage so I can get my break in miles under my belt.

Low 80's (Spring) today, so took a 220 mile ride. Hang in there my northern friends, your riding season is almost here!

Ice, ice and more ice tonite. 15-18*F and 10-15 mph winds. Wonderful. Got about 1/2" now, expecting at least a little more. I'm freezing my ass off just looking outside.

Record Breaking Winter For Peoria

The National Weather Service says with 3.2 inches of fresh snow over the weekend, this is now the snowiest winter on record in Peoria, at 53.4 inches.

The previous record was 52 and a half inches, set in 2010-11.

Other snow totals from the weekend snow; Elmwood in Peoria County picked up 4.2 inches, Eureka in Woodford County got 2.8 inches and Hopewell in Marshall County picked up 4.2 inches.

Oh Woopie

-17 °F here today and a record low for this date. Long-range forecast for March doesn't look very promising either. I suspect that there will be very little riding here until April - I almost always have the bike out by St. Patricks day. I have some surgery scheduled on my left hand this week so maybe I won't be missing much during the recovery period. I just hope that this winter is not an indicator of what we might expect for the summer! Two years ago, we had several days in the 70's during March. Right now, I would be happy to see temperatures above freezing!

Woke up to negative temps (F) here yesterday, high managed around 9. We're in for a treat today as it was already 9 at 8am on it's way to a blistering 16.

It should get above freezing today and melt off the thundersleet we got this weekend.

Hopefully back up in the 60's by Friday.

I think we've had one day above freezing since Dec. -20C again this morning. Its hard to believe that I'm gonna be riding to the SE Ohio Ramble in 60 days. Probably be 75 and sunny down there and -25 and snowing up here that weekend.

Let's see.... Sunday was 69-70 and made for a fantastic riding day up to the NE part of NC and down towards Hatteras. While out on the ride, we ran into a number of brine trucks...a sign of foreboding. On Monday, it started in the 60's, but by 3pm, it was 29 and freezing rain/sleet was coming down. This morning, 16 and completely iced roads, lol. Fun times...

That said, this coming weekend and next week is looking like it COULD be the start of spring...maybe...hopefully...
