Let's see.... Sunday was 69-70 and made for a fantastic riding day up to the NE part of NC and down towards Hatteras. While out on the ride, we ran into a number of brine trucks...a sign of foreboding. On Monday, it started in the 60's, but by 3pm, it was 29 and freezing rain/sleet was coming down. This morning, 16 and completely iced roads, lol. Fun times...
That said, this coming weekend and next week is looking like it COULD be the start of spring...maybe...hopefully...
Not too far away, same here. We got the ice coating everything except the roads, all were perfectly dry this morning. Just damn cold!! It was +25* when I got off work this morning!! Brrrrr!

I think spring has sprung tho. My daffodils are blooming, the bluebirds are here and the sun is shining. Life is looking (warming) up! If only my yard would dry out....

Today, after three days of temperatures in the high 40s.....

Well, we're at 34F on our way to around 50F.
Think it's time for the first ride of 2014.
Yepper, and ride to an eatery... (of course!) hey, I'll checkout your foodporn on FB later?

I already did a ride last Saturday. Man, was it nice to be able to mount that pony again. 'nuff said :)

45 and sunny today, but as the road crews ran out of salt, they started using sand and gravel. That crap is all over the roads still.

Most of year, it's to cold for salt to work up here. So they spread mostly sand or a mix of both.

I always know when summer is approaching when the city sub-contracts out road cleaning to herds of street sweepers. Until then. You best be not riding an corners with enthusiasm.

Speaking of weather. -2 out right now.

It's a heat wave. I'm afraid my igloo will melt and I'll be homeless.

Sorry, KJ - no food porn this go-round, but it was a nice little 115 mile loop today.

TomInCA - ya, same here. Once I got away from the city a little ways and onto the more rural roads, there was a lot of that shit on the roads. So, as Bungie said, no spirited corners for me.

We have no curves in Illinois, so we can be as spirited as we want.

However, I am not of the ilk to repeatedly bathe my bike in salt, so no FJR riding since November of 2013, 4 months and 7 days ago...

Good news is, it's 50 with a couple of passing shows. I can see the grass in the yard, it's been two months since I've seen any thing but white.

Keep FJRs salt free, especially that liquid stuff the state sprays on bridge decks and overpasses.

Karl... What is this thing you speak of? Grass?

@ Wheatie: Salt fears are highly over-rated. Besides, nobody actually uses salt (calcium chloride) on their roadways anymore. Aside from not working very well at lower temps (and eating up ferrous metal like it was its job) it's just too expensive. Other road treatments are being used and you never really know what mix that is exactly.

This year (which has been an EXTREME anomaly everywhere) it has been just too ridiculously cold to venture out on 2-wheels on those questionably treated roadways. Even the Tag-o-ramas have stalled for months on end up here.

But this weekend (tomorrow) we are looking at highs in the 40's... YES THE FREAKING 40'S! So you know I will be out on 2 wheels getting a fix. My last ride was on 2/2/14 and that is about all the suspense this cowboy can take.

The bike is just a machine. It's not your lifelong best buddy. It might become a little "degraded" by using it in inclement weather. But who cares. You can always get a new buddy. Sure, you could be one of those guys that only rides when it is dry and sunny. But... how many days do you suppose that you have remaining in your short life to enjoy? That... is the real question.

I'll wave to every bike I see tomorrow.

edit - Oh, I almost forgot the reason I came on to post: While Ill-noise may have only square corners, you still have to stop now and then. So watch that sand if you do venture out. And use more rear brake than normal! ;)

Still below freezing here, but the sun was working hard and started to melt some of the snow. We may get some rain on Saturday and that will help, but it's going to freeze back up after that. It will be at least another couple of weeks before I will get out on the bike. It is close......

I got out sometime in January during a quick thaw, but winter has been brutal. FWIW, I would have got out today but I badly sprained my left index finger when it got caught under the collar of my daughter's dog and I heard the tendons snap. I'm a finger short of a good pull on the FJR clutch. Go figure the luck https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/****.gif

Sun and 50 today so I got both bikes out of storage and am going to ride tomorow as soon as it's above freezing. It's the first I've seen my bikes since before Thanksgiving. Dug my 48 Ford out and drove it to town today.

Almost 60 today. Just got back from a couple hours of parking lot drills on the Wing and the FJR. It always is a surprise how much you lose when you don't ride for a few months. Rain tomorow then nice for a few days. Might have to head for the desert and see if the FJR is as fast as it was last season.

It was absolutely awesome today. Saw 61F while riding.

Hope the wind stays down tomorrow so I can d0 a 200 mile jaunt to Devils Tower and other garden spots in Eastern Wyoming.
