Thanks Richard. I'm actually looking for a Thursday route that ends back up in Paso Robles. I will use your link as a guide to get inland as I go up the coast on Thursday...

Tyler has sent me some turn by turn direction text a while back for suggested routes for Fri/Sat/Sun whether they're still good or not I haven't confirmed with Tyler. They still good Tyler?

Mark you should be afraid, very afraid.........

R
If that's the truth, it will be the first time FJRers have scared me...except that picture of a drunken bikergeek. :)

Marky, I'm going to make at least one of these "sleepovers" and riding days - just not sure which one.

They ALL friggin' scare me - even the ones without the lesbians.
Excellent, I'll see you then and buy you that beer/ale whatever...

...So tell your fellow Paddy the truth Mick, who's rougher: MadMike2 or the lesbians?
...I don't want the history on this one.

They should be. :)
Excellent...that's what griff used to make S&T files...and I copied and pasted into post #1 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. :yahoo:

Looks like you and Tyler think alike...this is the route she has laid out for us on Friday from Paso Robles...

As far as Thursday goes, that's a pretty suggestion, but I won't feel like stopping after 147 miles...so I will probably look to go around/detour around the slide inland.

Been checking hotels in Paso Robles for the 19th of May. Many of them are already booked up. Must be something going on that week there. Wheatie, is Paso Robles a definite location for an over-night stay on the 19th???

Paso Robles IS a definite. I bet you can share a room with Don...oh wait, you just called him a whale today...nevermind. ;)

How about the Old Coast Road? Its dirt with lots of turns and steep grades, but it does the detour. Feeling brave?

Yes, my buddy Don and I will be sharing a room on the 19th only. After experiencing a feeble break-in attempt of our room in Toas, NM at 02:00 by the likes of drunkards HotRodZilla and GalaxyBlue, it is best the Los Robustos remain together. There is safety remaining in a herd, you can't be too cautious when in the company of those Californicators! I will reserve a room at the same fine establishment Motel-6!

Hey, that looks scary and awesome. :yahoo:

Thanks for the link! :clapping:

I may have to do this myself if airboss and griff aren't into it. :D
The current slide is just south of Bixby bridge, so this route does go around it, but I sure wouldn't want to do it in the current wet weather we're having; at least not on a FJR.

Ah yes, brings back memories of Starved Rock
I remember that one. I had my # 2 daughter with me, it was her first long ride on her own bike and I had to Sheppard her home, and couldn't ride with you guys.

BUT, I had Mark get his map and showed him exactly where the pavement stopped and the gravel started, and,and he went anyway!

Mark's addicted I tell ya, probably gonna have to place him in rehab, sigh him up with the GGG (gravel gliders group).

Querido Marcos, es Verdad ese! Big-D called me last night and I read his e-mail this morning, we are booked at the Motel 6. I just remembered, and will verify this, I believe the Paso Robles Wine Festival is going on that particular weekend. Seth's Mom Jean and I used to go every year and I am still on their mailing list and got a postcard about it last month. NOTE: https://www.pasowine.com/events/winefestival.php VERIFIED!

Yeah, I am rooming with Big-D and his tighty-whities again, those Hanes undies gave Patch308 real wood in Toas! I truly wanted to sleep near the vivacious Tyler, but Dan made me an offer I just couldn't refuse!

Hey, it's hard to see the tankbag map with the gravel dust flying. :) Plus, I don't think that the FJR does that bad up gravel hill climbs. Griff went down that same hill that others refused to go up...on his NON-ABS '03. So the hill couldn't have been too bad.

I was sad to hear that somebody dumped there bike though. I didn't hear about that until a year later. Then I really felt bad. :(

Last time I will spontaneously offer to lead a group along the Illinois River with out riding the route first or doing S&T directions printed out. My bad.

Now I'm scared.

ATENCION BIG-D: On Thursday morning May 19, I will be at the gas station down from your Lake Havasu City home at 0830 hours. We will take the route I have listed below over to Paso Robles, California. I will be on my Harley-Davidson FXD Twin Cam 88 and will have a tow rope with me to rescue those broken down Gen II FJR's!

https://classic.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Lake+Havasu+City&1s=AZ&1y=US&1l=34.483898&1g=-114.321701&1v=CITY&2c=Paso+Robles&2s=CA&2y=US&2l=35.626701&2g=-120.690002&2v=CITY This routing will avoid Los Angeles (Fairlaner's Fairyland!) and I like riding over the Tehachapi Mountain Range.
