Wheaton finally rides to California

I am addressing this post directly to you, since you are obviously "The Brains" of this Rolling Illinois Cluster Feck! My plan is to ride with you guys on Friday starting off from either Paso Robles or Cambria, your call. Then peeling off from your group to get to the San Jose California Airport by 1800 hours to pickup my Girlfriend Donna flying in from PHX.

Saturday morning, Donna and I will ride North with the Group to Windsor and spend the night. Repeat on Sunday night by spending the night in Fortuna. On Monday, Donna and I will leave early in order to get her back to San Jose for her 1500 hours flight back home to Chandler. [email protected] or 480-440-4666 Please keep me in your loop!

I will hang loose on any bookings in San Luis Obispo County, my hometown! Suggestion: We could get two rooms, each with two beds. Perhaps I will sleep on the patio deck of my old beach house in Cayucos, I think that the Municipal Court Restraining Order put on me by my ex-wife must certainly have expired by now!

Just for hoots and kicks, I plotted out driving distances and times between our 3 hotels over 5/20-5/22 using MapQuest. I fully realize that we will be taking the twistiest routes, not the most direct ones; just getting myself oriented! Really looking forward to this ride! Is Old "Pokey" Michael going to be leading this IL Cluster Feck in CA?

I guess I kinda figured that we would all kind of find out the proposed route ahead of time...and people could ride at what pace they felt comfortable and stop when they felt comfortable. A ride to eat/meet kinda thing.

Now if someone wants to be a ride leader, I don't mind, but I don't want to add stress to someone's day by forcing someone to step up as ride leader. Now if someone wants to start the gang off the road with "rules of the road and a short prayer" I'm all for that...or lead us through a tricky part of the route, that's fine.

But I guess I'm all for everybody knowing the end destination...some great possible routes...and see you along the way. If it does turn into an organized ride, that's fine too, but it seems that could be a nightmare with varying type of riding paces and styles. I plan on sharing the road at some point in time with each of you crazy Kali riders...and you too Don...even if but for a short amount of time.

I may sniff the daisies some day and other days I'm sure I'm gonna want to carve those curves pretty good...in fact my preferred riding pace usually ebb and flow during each day...depends on what mood I'm in.

Updated the first post. All motels for the trip have now been booked. Trip is only about 2 months away now... :yahoo:

About the only things that are not settled is if dcarver will be interested in providing escort for this Illiana Rolling Cluster Fook on Wed, May18 and Thursday, May 19 in the roads in his area...or between Santa Babs and Creston and/or points north.

Don, are you out there?? Let me know if you can fit us into your schedule...or if the Nookie plant will be calling you with its siren song.

If you can't, we will wind our way around into trouble...maybe visit Morro Bay and any other places we can find SB and points points north to Paso Robles...between the Ocean and the Valley inland...until Friday, when we will find our darlin Tyler who we will put our bodies into her capable hands.

The other part that is unsettled is the time after we get to Auburn the following week. We will have Rich/escorting us around...right Rich??
