Howdy Mark, been off here for awhile. Just seeing the post. I won't be making this trip. It's too far for a weekend. Me just starting a new job, I have no vacation.
Ya'll are gonna have fun, tho.
Hey Heidi. Congrats on the new job...that's some good news for sure. I'm sure Jim/spklbuk will help you get out some this year I'm sure. Maybe next time...

Looks like fun Mark... Count me in. Two hundred miles to SFO or 600+ to your event... Thats a no brainer.... Smitty

Well, in one week since this thread started, we've had a great response.

So far we have had commitments from riders from FL, VA, NY, IL, OH, NJ, SC, PA, MO, MS, TN, IN, GA, and Ontario. That's thirteen states and and a province of Canada!

Look at who's coming and where we are riding...don't you want to sign up and get in on the fun?

Of course you do! :clapping:

Mark, I think this is a great way of having a get together. For one the cost of the normal rally. It is expensive for the rally fee and a high end motel. You can easy spend $400 bucks just on the "normal fee's". Then add fuel and other expenses and you can dump $7 or 8 hundred going to an event.

The BMW (gasp) crowd been doing it this way for years. Nice get together for cheap... Yes, you won't be pampered with nice room.. but camping, sitting around a fire is cool and a good time. Plus, you get a lot of riding time and no need to watch a clock for dinner...

Mark, since I'm not familier with the Curso area I just visited the motorcycleroads.us site to do a little scouting...a lot of red(twisty) in that area. :yahoo:

I was wondering...are we gonna have route sheets?

...and no one from NC yet? Good grief. Must not be far enough. :D

Not that I'll be able to offer any real area insight, but it would be my first ever mc event. Looking forward to it!

Denny,

I'm glad you asked that. This being a "no frills" FJR meet, there won't be a set route or a set ride. We are all FJR riders capable of figuring out a decent route in a great riding area. I envision people going off in 2s, 3s or 4s in every direction to explore the roads on their own terms.

My work is done. :D

That being said, if someone has a great route that they want to share with others...post that up, or if someone wants to lead a small group of riders around....post that up.

Edit: here is a linky to the website Denny/drc32-0 was alluding to. It should give you a good start toward your planning...besides your Gazetteer, GPS, MS S&T...motorcycleroads.us website in the Cruso, NC area

Great to have you!

I may have overlooked North Carolina...but not anymore...adding you to the list.

The Motorcycle Touring Forum has a CC-50/CC100 the week of May 3-7. I was thinking of doing the 100CC that week (Jacksonville, Fl. to San Diego, CA and back to Jacksonville in 100 hours).... Rest for a day and then play on the east coast and wind up at the camp out.... Sounds like a plan.... Smitty :dribble:

:D

Just let me know what you decide Mike. :clapping:

I don't know if Reaper has decided yet...but you know where I'll be. ;)

EDIT: I didn't post this event to take people away from SFO...which will be a way classier event by the way. :D Only come to this event if you are NOT going to SFO. I think fjrrider/sprocket has some great routes in AR cooked up for those going to SFO. :clapping:

Hey Wheatie,

If you give the names and handles of everyone I will print name tags. I will print a sample with my info and take a pic later and post it. Anyone who has a nametag like they used at EOM could bring that and the tag will fit in it.

whaddaya think?? :dntknw:

A good idea...I appreciate your volunteerism, cuz I know you're just looking to help out. But I was more thinking of a sharpie pen and a sticky name tag for those that want to use 'em....cuz this is a more laid back affair.

We aren't gonna charge any sort of fee for anything...so this thing is on the cheap.

Let's save that idea and see if the sharpie thing works out this year. If people don't like the sharpie idea...we can revise that thinking towards next year.

The idea behind this meet is a basic tent, motorcycle, some good roads, some new found FJR friends, and a campfire. Nothing more and nothing less. I think that's what most people want. If it becomes too much more than that, I'm not sure I would be interested in organizing it. That's not to say others couldn't do that...it just wouldn't be my thing.

I love the idea behind the meet and don't want to do anything to compromise that. I am offing this gratis. No strings. No expectations and nothing special! I am really looking forward to meeting more of the FJR crowd. Gotta go get the camera and get a pic of the tag I made. More to come...

Here is what I printed today...pretty simple and I think it goes with the theme. Hey, it's the only one I printed so far so....
