Where is EOM 2013?

Believe it or not but rallies are starting to fill my calendar for 2013. If it works out, like it did this year, I might what to be able to attend two rallies back to back in the same area.

Any ideas where it might be held? I take it, it won't be moved from the September 21/22 weekend?
Mi Amigo Tomaso, I just got a call from Old Michael; the hot scuttlebutt is that EOM 2013 will be in Manitoba, probably the week after CFR and in Cranberry Portage ese!

Well if nobody steps up for EOM, I'm gonna suggest here and now that we just have an informal meet up somewhere in NC/TN/WV/VA sometime in Sept. I have to cart my *** down there at least once a year!

(Addendum: Oh ya, I'll be in WV the first week of May for the ESTN meet).
I'm with you on that suggestion Bungie. This time I'll wait for you to catch up after the BBQ dinner!

Funny how the conversation gets stirred up earlier and earlier each year for EOM as well as other rallies.

I feel that the Asheville / Hendersonville area has more than enough riding to play ground zero again next year. A new venue needs to be located unless the Quality Inn makes substantial strides towards staffing improvements in the next 6 months. The problem is that if we side any further north than Hendersonville, hotel prices increase substantially.

We definitely need more involvement this year. I have the domain and web space taken care of for another year at this point. There was discussion about expanding this to other Yamaha models as well - FZ1 / 6 owners, Super Tenere owners - they all "sport tour" in one form or another.

yea, Tom, you stirred up some stuff, didn't you...

EOM 2013 planning is officially underway. Lee is doing some venue recon now, we are discussing Boone and Hendersonville.

I'll find a source for the adult beverages, but I don't know about an ice filled trailer. Maybe Bob can bring his trailer...for the ice

EOM 2006 was in Boone. A very decent venue it was, also. Biggest issue... the hotel was in the heart of Boone. It sucked big getting in & out of city central.

A very good riding area, though!

That's the spirit!

Do you remember which hotel it was at? EOM 2006 was "pre-FJR" for me...

It's been a long time since I've stayed there. Actually stayed there a few years back, too. They had closed the restaurant but the bar was open. Let me do a lil' research & I'll get back to you.

Edited to add: "High Country Inn" got horrible reviews! What a difference 6 years makes. It was an adequate hotel back then.

We stayed @ the High Country Inn... I expect it's the place that sold. I looked @ the place that came up in google maps... that was it. Bad, bad reviews, too. I hope for the new tenants that it's condition improved. lol!

Thanks. Rates show $139/night at the countryinn website. That first link says they converted the building to studio apartments.

Boone is an expensive town, but drops us in prime riding country again.

The high country inn that EOM was at in 2006 was sold ... see link for details

When I googled high country inn today I got this place

Sounds like Tom needs to find us a place in Hendersonville that is both cheap AND gets good reviews AND has easy access to the good roads AND has good food and liquor within stumbling distance AND...

He started this mess... ;)

If Boone were to be the choice, I think we'd want to make sure EOM didn't coincide with an ASU game weekend. It's already a crowded town as it is...MUCH changed from the sleepy '70's when we camped there as kids, lol.

Yes - this is a point Lee and I have already discussed; the home / away schedule is not published yet, but it will need to be something that is considered.

Sounds like you and Tom both know what needs to happen, so what's taking so long?

If Sparta NC is an option, the Alleghany Inn is a good venue. They host a MSTA event I attend every year and several larger motorcycle events. I can check with them about potential costs, etc if there is interest. The going rate is $67/night.
