Looking for solid interest in those folks who would like to ride some of New Hampshire's premiere mountain riding spots (that I know of!). The date is for June 13/14. For those who may be thinking of not attending due to distance or a need for lodging, I have secured a good friends house for the weekend. There will be a charge, but rest assured, way cheaper than any of the regular lodging in the area. Those details are still being worked on, will make available as soon as I know. I do know, however, that space is limited to 1 king size bed and 3 queens, in addition to two twin beds that are already accounted for. There is however, room in the backyard complete with firepit for those of you inclined to be more at one with nature. And extra floor space and one couch.

The route planning is almost complete and will try to get it posted up shortly, but is basically the Kancamagus Highway, Rt 113 from Fryeburg, ME north to Rt2, Rt 16 to include Mt Washington, and Rt 302 over to I-93 to see the remainder of the Old Man of the Mountain for anyone who hasn't seen it yet and would like to.

Depending on the riding interest of the group, there are a couple of "interesting" side roads that could easily be incorporated into the ride! Again, depending on the preference of those who might like to attend, the weekend could either be a laid back, easy going ride with time to stop and smell the roses split between the two days or a real bun-buster of a long day on either day.

I have been reminded by a few good folks that there are a few caveats to this particular weekend which may be looked upon as a con for this particular weekend. First, the Cats and Daks ride is also planned for this weekend. Second, it is the beginning weekend of Bike Week in Laconia. All I can say is that, unfortunately, my own personal availability to plan and host any type of weekend ride is completely nailed to this particular weekend by forces that are out of my control.

So, if there is enough strong interest to make this work, then we'll make a go of it and have a great time. If not, looks like the Cats and Daks ride would be a blast for me too! :yahoo: Either way, just looking to spend some quality riding time with good friends and meet other forum members.

Best regards to all!

C.J.

This looks like fun. I have not ridden around in New Hampshire since 1977. I can't make it the weekend you have planned, but I'll mark your route on a map and may do a weekend myself up there this summer.

I would only be able to ride on Sunday of that weekend due to another commitment on Saturday. So, I will either be riding the Whites with you or the 'Dacks with the ZOOOM family. My Saturday schedule will dictate how much (if any) and where I will be able to participate.

How's that for a non-commitment? (I should'a been a politician...)

I would be interested in this ride also but I am hoping to do the ZOOOOOOOOOOOOM ride if my schedule works out. This might be a good one for early Sept right after school starts but before the madness of leaf peeping season. I always appreciate the time that people put into these things so don't give up on it.

P.S.- I've met Fred, he could have been a politician but he is to honest.

Thanks Chris. You are too kind.

One other thing for folks to keep in mind if they have a hankering to ride the mountains in New England, but maybe the timing of CJ's ride is bad or you want to ride the Cats' and 'Dacks that weekend:

There will be other New England weekend rides this summer and fall!

Snicker and I are working up a 2 day Vermont and New Hampshire ride, most likely to occur in August sometime. Announcements will be coming soon

And we can always do the Covered Bridges Ride again in the Fall foliage. Hell, that one is almost a tradition... ;)

Thanks for the replies y'all. Like I said, my schedule is being dictated to me, and this is the only weekend foreseeable this year that I could host a get together. I'd like to give back to the FJR community, but would be just as happy making the Cats and Daks ride also! I would love to do a similar ride in the fall, or any other time, for that matter, I just couldn't host/plan it.

Fred- politician or no, you're OK in my book. I don't care WHAT Axe says about ya!

Count me in, CJ. Wifey as well.

Planning on Saturday morning meet. Unknown about Saturday night and Sunday but may be looked at as a weekend getaway from our boys.

Looking forward to it.

Awesome, Dan! Now you HAVE to get that backrest for her! Just tell her you're buying it *for her* like as a Mother's Day present. Then you'll get credit for the gift, the gift, and a good reason for her not to join in on a few rides!

CJ

Wish I could make it CJ. The wife and I are doing our "motorcycle get away weekend" that weekend. At least I'll be riding. And I will be thinking of you guys. You might see me on my way back from Maine that Sunday. If you see an 04 FJR from VT be sure to WAVE!

Tom

No problem, Tom. Enjoy the weekend together and enjoy the ride, wherever you are! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the Vt/NH ride. . . will do what I can to make it!

If I do see you, I'll give you a proper TWN salute!

And don't forget CJ, I'm on vacation June 29 to July 4. You can twist my arm and I'll show you the "sights" VT has to offer.

Will definitely keep those dates in mind and when I get my work schedule, will have to plan a day! As always, you're a gentleman and a scholar. . . well, a gentleman, anyway. Shiny side up!

Oh c'mon, Tom. There aren't any strip joints in Vermont. Unless you count those county fairs where the 55 year old hippie chicks get nekid and 'rassle around in the mud.

Fred you have not checked out Barre yet have you? I have to keep some things a secret.

If anyone has any particular "favorite routes" or some nice roads off the beaten path that would care to share, post up! Always looking for good info from those in the know! Always nice to open things up to those who may be checking out a thread but can't make the trip. . . .

Along with the general route posted in post #1, I'd also like to include Bear Notch Rd (off the eastern end of the Kancamgus Hwy) and Hurricane Mountain Rd in Intervale. I also have another promising looking loop with some nice backroads.

Just to say it again for those who may have not decided, the routes and itinerary are not etched in stone and can be tailored (to a reasonable extent) to the tastes of those who show up. There will be no problem doing either just the Saturday or Sunday ride . . . will post more specifics as the time draws nearer to the ride.

This ride is an all-inclusive brand ride. . . in other words, I don't care what type of motorcycle you ride. As long as you can keep up!

CJ...last year Bear Notch Road was a bit rough. And I was in a truck with a trailer. Taking ATV's to MT Washington. Just wanted you to know.

Yeah, it's rough. Especially in the spring. But it is still the best way to avoid the (relative) traffic in Conway / N. Conway. We'll be taking it (and taking it easy) on the Whites and Greens ride.
