Why yes as a matter of fact, Gen III paint is ****.

I've got a nice set of FZ1 mirrors that I took off my 04. They'll likely end up on the 13 at some point, but for now, I much prefer the look of the stockers. Good thing they look great, because functionally, their way substandard to the FZ1's.

I'm just biding my time for someone much handier than myself to come up with a good mounting solution. :D

Fred W says, "Hope your sub-frame didn't get tweaked. Some other folks have reported sub-frames cracking from the mirrors hitting during zero mph drops. "

Iris "geeze, I hope not. We just had the insurance appraiser at the house yesterday"

But if the Gen lll's had a layer of paint that wasn't soft?? Would said paint be robust enough to prevent this?

I think they should be recalled.

Oh man. It makes me feel so stupid....

Tell me again after you actually ride a '14 (or later) ES. I'm telling you, it IS sliced bread.

Because REAL MEN have the testicular fortitude to ride unrefined machines. We don't need Lincoln Continentals..

Our testes have skin so thick, yer sisters want us.

As a proud Gen II owner who has endured the Gen I superiority argument for years, I just must say, Happy Friday, and let's keep this thread going!

Why?

Because the title of the thread is just SO BRUTAL.

Nothing to be afraid of, Mikey. It's just money. You can't take it with you, man.

Actually, two other 1st Gen NERDS test rode the 14ES on the same day that I did, ionbeam and FJReady, so I got to see their reactions. Both really liked it. Alan says he's getting in line for the '15. Russ said he didn't think it was enough difference to justify the expense of buying the new bike considering how little the old 1st Gen would sell for.

So there you have it: While it is not unanimous, 2 out of 3 first Gen owners prefer the 3rd Gen ES enough to sink a sizable wad of cash into it and upgrade.

Who are you and what have you done with our ol' Frugal Fred??

The '15s are supposedly going to be released at the AIMExpo, correct? And that's the same weekend as the planned Covered Bridges ride. This may make for some of the most expensive leafs ever peeped.

I can't comment on the Gen3 ****** paints jobs, but I am waiting for the day Howie has to "Stoop" to one of these newer machines. It's going to be a national holiday around here.

The big question is 'how long can he hold out?'. I heard the Vegas line on this is @ 4yrs?... I'm taking a cool 100 on the over!

Yeah, that's what all the Hardley Ableson guys keep tellin' us too... ;)

I'm still frugal. I didn't get the BMW GS (which was actually something that I was thinking about). The FJR can be considered a frugal choice!

I've heard that you actually have to ride the thing to wear it out...
