Okay, I got the idea from nik.hisham.

A seemingly insignificant photo becomes the title of your report.

Or something.

Thanks, nik.

I took a ride last weekend, and here's a pile of snapshots from my trip.

I headed down I-80 before dawn,

and was across the Carquinez Bridge right around sunrise.

My first real stop near Hercules.

I only pretended to need gas.

Just had to use the men's room. :D

A few more miles, and out across the mighty Bay Bridge...

...up through the morning air ...

...and into the city.

IMG_1391xxx.jpg

Then north, and another bridge - the Golden Gate.

IMG_1393xxx.jpg

Into Marin County, and a left turn, up onto the headlands.

Here, I should mention that it was warm and calm

and incredibly clear for a January day.

Looking back at the way I'd come.

Then on down the other side. Pt. Bonita in the distance.

Yup, this report will include tons of pictures of my FJR in front of things.

Okay. The title shot.

Lots of bicycle nazis and runners come out here in the morning.

Then, back over for a quick run through Sausalito.

Lots of interesting things in Sausalito.

Then, before I jumped back onto Highway 1 for the run north,

I stopped to look around this place - San Francisco Sea Plane Tours.

While I was getting snapshots of the float planes, I was approached by

this lovely gal - Jean.

IMG_1011xxx.jpg

She told me she had a flight leaving in about 30 minutes, and that it was

a beautiful day to be in the air.

I asked her when the pilot would be along, and she smiled and said,

"I'm the pilot, Michael. Can I take you for a ride in the sky?"

I said, "Sure! And later, maybe we can go up in your plane."

:D

I didn't really say that to her.

Chatted for a few minutes. Great sense of humor.

Moving on...

The next few hours I spent riding up the coast, listening

to music, alone with my thoughts, enjoying the brilliant

sunshine, and stopping for the occasional snapshot.

...It's like paradise

Spread out with a butter knife...

There aren't too many more beautiful routes in America, I think.

I always appreciate how fortunate I am to live in this area.

This is just across the road from that last shot.

Big surf today.

OM. You have some really amazing scenery where you're at. Loving all the images! I can imagine how awesome it would be to ride some of the roads you took pics of.

Thanks for sharing.

Oh sure, post this up at this time of year!! Now all the boys in the northeast are going to probably still hate you.

Seriously, though, good stuff. I'll visit one day....

I believe you've outdone yourself with the pics in this RR. Beautifully framed shots. I ride this stuff all the time, but your RR made me wish I lived in this magical place. Thanks. JB

Great.

Just f'n great.

As if cabin fever hasn't set in enough as it is.

Add in the fact that I haven't ridden in damn near 3 months.

And now this.

This...

This....

This funny as hell ride report accompanied with a bunch of kick-ass pictures.

<sigh>

Alone with your thoughts?

Glad to see you've finally gotten me out of your head.

OM your RRs never disappoint but there is something a little different about this one. Can't say for sure what it is but I think it is one of your best. You can probably never go wrong with pics of girls in running shorts. :dribble:

I do think after seeing the pic of you in your mirror you may want to cut back on the coffee.

Nothing sadder than a man's broken heart, Smokey Robinson sang it best:

Thanks for taking us along Michael. I've ridden that exact same route (and the exact same pictures!) a number of times

I lived in the bay area (San Jose) for 5 years, without a bike. I would love to have had the FJR while I was there, and this RR makes me miss it quite a bit. However, I did do a bit of flying in the area, so I have seen some of these sights from a different perspective. I would have taken her up on the flight! :) Great report!!!

You're killin me, absolutely killin me! As I sit here gazing out at the lovely snow, mush, dead grass, bare trees and thinking about my new scoot in my cold, dirty garage that I can't ride, I gotta look at this??? Thanks man!!!

Seriously though, those are some awesome shots of simply spectacular scenery. Guess I'll have to settle for my ridin fix through you. Thanks for some warm, bright sunshine through the dingy dark cold. Keep it comin, preciate it!

Nice job junior! Too bad no one will ride with you anymore! Even Mark has given up on you.... What happened to Route 20? I think you should do a ride report that is comprised of shots from every pit stop you make... Bathrooms, gas stations, strip clubs, homeless shelters etc. You could title it "My favorite places".... Rich
