Been changing vital fluids this past weekend and was going to run it to circulate the coolant. the battery had gotten run down and she wouldn't start. Left it on the tender long enough for it to turn over and now no fire. Smells flooded, have I fouled the plugs? New plugs are on the way, but? Never had any problems before so I'm puzzled.

The battery needs enough power available to energize the ignition AND spin the engine at a decent rate.

If it turns over slowly without firing, you are likely to smell gas as it is injected into the cylinders then escapes, un-burned, into the exhaust.

Make sure the battery is fully charged then try again. You could jump from a car but do not run the car engine while making the attempt. You will not be thanked by your regulator if you do :D

Flooded Fred. Get the battery healthy again and either crank it WFO until the plugs clear or lift the tank, clear the cylinders and swap the sparks.

What'd you do...start it up and then immediately shut it back down?

Also worth considering that the battery is simply toast and won't take enough charge to start the engine.

But the thing to try if you smell gas is hold the throttle wide open as it cranks, which vents the flooded fuel.
