I work part-time in parts dept @ a very busy Yamaha/Polaris dealership & have many different brand of oil to choose from. I've run the gamut of dino, semi-syn & full syn oils in my bikes. Always shied away from Yamalube as I found it was made by Citgo. Owned by Venezuela Commie *******s which I will never support. For 08 as many of you know, Yamalube was re-formulated & other than some minor types, is no longer made by Citgo. Now, all Yammie race teams including MotoGP run Yamalube which wasn't the case in the past. They've changed the dino oil from 10W30 to 10W40 & 20W40 to 20W50 in their all purpose oils. For full syn, they offer 15W-30 & 15W50. While I haven't yet used their full syn, I'm going to @ next oil change.

Good info there about Citgo. Thank goodness they no longer use the Venezuelan oil.

Yammie lube used here from the beginning on this 2005 bike. Tried Rotella once or twice on the 2004 with no noticeable differences.

That's exactly what Ken @ Yamaha of Harrison said. Apparently, the new YamaLube blend has much more anti-shear additive.

When it comes to two-stroke racing, I use nothing but Yamalube in every bike. You tear down two-stroke racing bikes constantly and I've seen first-hand, time and time again, what a huge difference Yamalube makes over any other brand. But it seems that lately both Yamalube and Honda oils have undergone substantial changes.

Perhaps it's time for me to undertake a new testing program, get away from raping tires and start doing oil endurance tests??? Anybody have a bike I can use.

 :D

Even my defacto standard Rotella-T synthetic sometimes lacks longevity in the long molecule department, if I've been trying to keep up with Scab.

Still trying to decide what to run in my new FJR. Ironically, the dealer where I bought the bike did not set it up with Yamalube, but instead used what they buy in bulk for the multi-make dealership. I'm torn between Yamalube and going to some full synthetic after a few more miles. Dirt Rider just did a long term wrap up on a WR fed Yamalube exclusively and said the motor looked way better than average on tear down.

I know I'm new here and my opinion doesn't count much but in my FZ6 I had I ran dino, then switched to synth and thought it was great. After about 10k miles on synth seemed like the tranny wasn't shifting as smooth so I went back to dino for good. I won't be putting synth in my FJR but I'm sure plenty of people do (just like they do the FZ6's). My point is, FJRMike's experience doesn't surprise me. But, to each his own.
