I'm bracing myself for the *** kicking flame-fest to follow, but here goes:
Before last week, I was never picky with oil brands, just using Mobil 1 or Rotella Synthetic. The only selection criteria I used was 10-40 for winters, 20-50 for summers, all synthetic.
As posted Here, I had an unexpected oil change in NW Arkansas, and used Yamalube 10-40 for the first time. I'm now a YamaLube convert, and won't go back.
Just 4 days prior, to the switch, I put in fresh Rotella Synthetic as usual, and rode just under 2k since that change. On the trip out to Arkansas, I noticed a high level of vibration, and remember thinking a TBS must be due. Also, I averaged 35mpg @ 85mph w/ the throttle lock on flat slab. After the switch to YamaLube, the vibrations subsided noticably, and on the return trip, I averaged 39mpg @ 85mph, w/ the throttle lock on flat slab.
I know these aren't scientific tests, but the unexpected results were significant to me. So, take it for what it's worth (probably very little, especially since I don't even torque my drain plug ).
Off to NEPRT with this one...
