An awesome view of Yosemite Valley (and the Yosemite backcountry) is available from Glacier Point - which you can drive to with a 100 yard hike after parking.

There are also some nice hikes off of the Glacier Point Road that get you out to good views.

Absolutely. I tell folks all the time, I did not get a body like this just from over eating. I am also a lazy sack of sh**. This is a lifestyle choice and I am committed.

Well friends, by my count we have 10 more months to drool over this thread before the party begins. That a long friggin time.

The waiting is undoubtedly the hardest part....

Well, thank God for SacMike. I never look in the "California" section. I never would have seen this. Haha...IN *******! I'm really thinking of either having my wife fly out, or taking my 14yo on an epic MC ride. We'll see.

RFH, why don't you, your dad and pants come to Albuquerque and we'll ride out from here. We can run north and have a blast burning through Utah and Nevada on the way.

Also, if anyone wants to do the apartment thing, between a few of us, that may make for a good deal.

Sounds good to me, AJ!!

I haven't decided if I'm leaving early, staying late, or both. Regardless, I was thinking that a swing through a little more New Mexico would be in order for the ride there or back.

AJ, since both you and Wheatie didn't know what about this meet when I mentioned it on Big D's SWFOG thread, there must be others who missed it too. Since there's no "All of the Above" category in the Ride Planning section, I'm going to post a link to this thread in every region's section. With people from all over replying already, I figured everybody knew. But now that I think about it, I don't really look too far out of my own area most of the time either. But this will be another good chance for people from all over to see some of our best stuff here in Cali.

edit: Turns out there IS an "all of the above" category. How do I know? Iggy told me, when he told me to stop posting multiple identical postings! Anyway, it's done now--in one neat post that everybody can see.

On the apartment thing, how many can sign up for one?

<edit> Ok, nvm, just noticed it's in post #1. So are those apartment prices per bed or what?

I just did a quick google check on "apartments near yosemite" and came up with a LOT of hits--things like Airbnb accommodations in Mariposa, where the host hotel is, for example. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard--especially this far in advance--to secure a place where a bunch of out-of-staters could room together at a real good per-person cost. Just another alternative.

Mike, that's super funny! Poor Iggy. We should double his pay.

As far as apartments, I was just skimming, but I coulda sworn Tyler mentioned room prices and something about "apartment" prices. Sounded to me like multi-room condo thingies. If I'm wrong, sorry...I'll go back and read more thoroughly.

Maybe I need to go back and read too, but I had the impression that the hotel offered some kind of suites that could take more people than a regular room, and that's what she meant. But even if, there's still that option if the hotel fills up or whatever. Plus I was thinking that for people riding all the way across, maybe for the first or only time, they might like to rent something more long term that would be a little less moola.

I like the idea of doubling Iggy's pay though. Hey, let's triple it!

From Post #1

Rates (good for one king or two queens):

Thursday, June 1, 2017 $119

Friday, June 2, 2017 $129

Saturday, June 3, 2017 $139

There are also four apartment type accommodations as follows:

Apt. A: 2 bedrooms - 1 queen / 1 twin = +$30/night

Apt. B: 2 bedrooms - 1 queen / 1 queen = +$40/night

Apt. C: 3 bedrooms - 1 queen / 1 queen / 1 twin = +$50/night

Apt. D: 3 bedrooms - 1 queen / 1 queen / 2 twins = +$60/night

There are four apartments - see above

Three nights in the three bedroom unit D would be 119 + 60 = 179 Night one

129 + 60 = 189 Night two

139 + 60 = 199 Night three

567 for all three nights

About $100 a person for all three nights assuming double occupancy in each room.

You can hardly afford to stay home at that rate.

Trying to figure out how I can make this run and the Alaskan Adventure on the KLR too. The Alaska run starts on June 3rd.......GRRRR

Looking at the map,

If I can persuade the other Alaska Adventurers to rendezvous at our friends in Eureka MT on June 8th I think I can make this work, with a brief conjugal visit in Spearfish for a steed swap June 5th & 6th.

Yosemite to Spearfish is a doable two-day ride on the FJR June 4th-5th

Spearfish to Eureka MT is doable in two days aboard the KLR even avoiding the slab, June 7th-8th

Hmmm.......

Boy if Fester could make this, that would be way cool!!!

John - so many trips..... so little time!!! Envious of your retirement agenda!!

With tomorrow the 1st, I'll go ahead and call it T-minus 9 months and counting. I think about this a lot.
