Yes, I am kidding.... the sole difference between California bikes and non-Cali bikes are the charcoal canister and associated plumbing. Only 2 lbs difference.

People... JUST WAIT till you throw the GenIII on the centerstand for the first time!! It is UNBELIEVEABLY EASY! I damn near flipped the bike over, using the same strength needed to pop the Gen I on its centerstand.

No joke. Dead serious. The centerstand looks very similar, BUT IT IS NOT! Yamaha did some true magic here!!! B)

Horn does not appear to be louder, still sounds like a cartoon horn....

I actually thought the horn did sound different, about as loud as both horns on the pre-GenIII bikes... then again, I had my head down in the radiator area when I tried the horn! :lol:

It represents another farkle opportunity, I suppose...

Once it's broke in and before the snow gets in the way a report on the top speed would be nice - from what you have read of course.

That's only on California models, Richard....

Actually, its not apparent on first glance, but the Spring Preload adjustment bolt is, in fact, the same on both forks.

However, Rebound and Compression Damping adjustments are now on the right fork only, that is correct. Not sure why Yamaha went this direction.... cost savings, perhaps, and/or they apparently feel that enough rebound/compression tweakage can be obtained via one fork only.

A few items regarding the Cruise Control....

The manual says the Cruise Control operates only in gears 3, 4 and 5, and between speeds of 31mph and 80mph.

The 3rd, 4th and 5th gear information is correct. As is the lower speed limit of 30-ish mph.

However, the upper speed limit for cruise control operation does not appear to be regulated to 80mph.

Futher tesing is indicated, before taking that as gospel.

Also... it looks like rain here today. Perhaps I'll get to test out the TCS system....

I've got a question, how's life behind the OEM windshield?

Yamaha is doing this same thing with the FZ1's fork and have been doig it since 06, while for street it seemed fine but for track a change would be needed. Since most fjr's are on the street i figure mother yami was saving a few bucks but with the weight of the fjr and carrying capacity i don't know if it was a smart idea..time will tell

Dump the dopey stock suspension and call up the UK and have them send you the active suspension system from the AS. Now that would be some serious farkling worthy of Richard.
