Holt.....thats my neck of teh woods......but you knew that already.

Dale you were kidding on it being a Cali only thing RIGHT?

R

Congratulations Dale, these 2013 FJR's are incredible machines! Dale, I would hate to have Dieter und Hans in BMW Central Command Bunker in Berlin hear this: But, if I had only known Yamaha was going to make such worthwhile/notable improvements to the 2013 FJR I may have held off in the purchase of my 2012 BMW K1600GT!
He didn't really say that. He's channeling the voice of a mule deer. Don't listen, Gisele! (Yes, I read the entire horrible saga and needed to go for a long ride to cope with the madness.)

Congratulations on the Gen III !

Yes, I am kidding.... the sole difference between California bikes and non-Cali bikes are the charcoal canister and associated plumbing. Only 2 lbs difference.

Dale have you used the center stand yet??? even MEM will be able to get this on the stand...

R
Holy ****, I must be tired... how could have I forgotten to mention this?

People... JUST WAIT till you throw the GenIII on the centerstand for the first time!! It is UNBELIEVEABLY EASY! I damn near flipped the bike over, using the same strength needed to pop the Gen I on its centerstand.

No joke. Dead serious. The centerstand looks very similar, BUT IT IS NOT! Yamaha did some true magic here!!! B)

You Gen III **** suck moist *** cheese. Word.
Uhh Ohh Here we Go!
Poor Skoot-skoot.... jealousy does not become you, my friend...
Warchild, ever since you Guys up in Gerlach made Skooty-Poo wear a kilt for the weekend: GreggieM returned to Arizona a "changed" man (and not for the better either!). jes' sayin' and nuff' said!

another thing Dale dont know if you have looked yet but i was just about to install my superbrace and noticed there is only 1 horn now.....

R

Horn does not appear to be louder, still sounds like a cartoon horn....

On the good news side the wild Bill highway pegs will fit........

I actually thought the horn did sound different, about as loud as both horns on the pre-GenIII bikes... then again, I had my head down in the radiator area when I tried the horn!

It represents another farkle opportunity, I suppose...

Doug we will do that right after you do the same on the wing......

Sounds to me like you guys got French-spec FJR's.

Dale have you noticed yet that there is only 1 adjuster on top of the right fork and none on the top of the left....WTF?
That's only on California models, Richard.... :p

Actually, its not apparent on first glance, but the Spring Preload adjustment bolt is, in fact, the same on both forks.

However, Rebound and Compression Damping adjustments are now on the right fork only, that is correct. Not sure why Yamaha went this direction.... cost savings, perhaps, and/or they apparently feel that enough rebound/compression tweakage can be obtained via one fork only.

A few items regarding the Cruise Control....

The manual says the Cruise Control operates only in gears 3, 4 and 5, and between speeds of 31mph and 80mph.

The 3rd, 4th and 5th gear information is correct. As is the lower speed limit of 30-ish mph.

However, the upper speed limit for cruise control operation does not appear to be regulated to 80mph.

Futher tesing is indicated, before taking that as gospel.

Also... it looks like rain here today. Perhaps I'll get to test out the TCS system....

That was the one cloud that bugged me about North American models and GREAT news to hear! :yahoo:

Yamaha is doing this same thing with the FZ1's fork and have been doig it since 06, while for street it seemed fine but for track a change would be needed. Since most fjr's are on the street i figure mother yami was saving a few bucks but with the weight of the fjr and carrying capacity i don't know if it was a smart idea..time will tell

CONGRATS dale!

Thanks for all the kind words of congratulations, folks.

(except for the jealous, newly gayed-up Skoot-Skoot! holy ****, this photo is a riot!

ok I was just making sure that the dealer didn't forget to do something......Would i be correct in thinking that it must be something like the Wing suspension before i did the AK upgrade?

R
Dump the dopey stock suspension and call up the UK and have them send you the active suspension system from the AS. Now that would be some serious farkling worthy of Richard.
