OK that's enough of a reason to return it NOW! That's just wrong!

1 of 2 things is gonna happen,

1st I will get a service manual....or

2nd and more likely Dale will have his completely apart and he can tell us all...

First, as suspected... after all bolts/push-pin fasteners are removed, cowling removal is *still* a tedious, painstaking task - all slots, tabs and recesses. Use care... or you'll be snapping plastic:

So what you're saying is don't remove/replace the dash panels or bodywork more than necessary?

Curious to see what is involved for the lower-side fairing panel removal.

Do we have any ground spiders??
Richard and I are on the FJR bleeding edge... we don't know yet what we have in the way of Gen III challenges.

I am sure everyone joins Richard and I in hoping the new platform is as error-free as possible...

One thing we do know is that this generation has considerably more electronic packages then previous model years. The fly-by-wire throttle system is of course brand new to our community. As is factory cruise control. And these factory heated grips appear to be a new design.

The dash instruments are wholly new, and pretty sophisticated. The menuing system on the far right instrument pod is extremely well done from a user interface perspective, and I certainly hope it proves reliable over time, despite whatever underlying complexity might be involved.

And I am sure we are going to learn new things almost every day. For example:

Recall all the previous generation owners who found the throttle springs too much to deal with, and started disconnecting return springs? (a practice I always felt was sub-optimal) This is now a thing of the past. The amount of effort needed to hold open this fly-by-wire system is significantly less than previous mechanically-actuated systems (which stands to reason - on this system, this throttle system does not mechanically close throttle bodies as in previous models; it relocates a sensor that tells the computers to stop spraying fuel).

My suspicion is that there are all kinds of new FJR frontiers we are about to discover and learn. Here's hoping that these discoveries are all positive in nature.

However, if we run into issues... then we deal with them. We handle them. We work with Cypress wherever possible. That's been the FJRForum way from the beginning.

So it is now.

There is a TCS button on the left side of the dash, i have not tried it yet but i assume it just turns it off......
Correct, it does exactly that.

Another discovery made yesterday: you can not switch between Sport and Touring mode while underway. You have to (at the very least) be in neutral in order to switch modes (performed using the throttle-side thumb). Actually, I didn't try coasting in neutral and changing modes - perhaps the wheel sensors need to stop registering to set the mode as well, I haven't tried that yet.

I will say that my earlier comments about a snatchy throttle sensation coming off the line has been eliminated when I switched to Touring mode. I'll go back to Sport mode and try it again. Won't be today, though, because the dash is torn apart as I will be carefully installing a Datel tonight.

Dale i recall changing the mode yesterday while i was coasting in gear....at least i think i did.
