Thanks for the heads up!! I will have to give them a try.. Looks like these are replacing the Azaro ST... Thanks Smitty :)

Sure...just when I get a set of Avons on my FJR they replace them. I need a report on the new tires.

Hey Avon Tyres (if that is your real name),

That's fine and all. But could AVON manufacture a tire a little more in balance. I am an Avon user and probably will continue to be but geez... :clapping:

-Okay, balance aside, I do notice that the FJR is FEATURED in the Storm ST advertisement.

It appears the front tire (tyre) has the mose changes in it... The rear looks similar to the current Avon

I hope Avon was able to fix the "wobble" on this round of tires(tyres).

I am waiting for the Smitty Seal of Approval on these!

I have a set of the new Avon Storms coming early next week.

They'll be going on the Blackbird.... but not until I finish repairing the damage on it... :(

Out wid it...

I'll be through this set of Pilot Roads after my trip to AZ next week... Looks like I'll be ordering sumpin', might as well be these new Avons (Unless Mr. AT above would like me to test a set for gratis and report to the various forums... ;) ).

Soooo, how is this not considered a spammer???
Because he's not hawking Viagra for one. Avon tires have also been event sponsors like WFO. He's also not an end seller, but more accurately announcing a new product release to a bunch of folks that use their product. I don't want to try and dissect it, but think this case is OK.

Why are all the ######## riders crashing? Is some kind of vortex crashing the universal flux capacitor?

No crashy. A convoluted tale of 395 slightly less entertaining than the coyote story, but involving unfortunate interference fits of certain parts. He's building up the drama.

Actually, I'm looking for the digi-photos I took of the damaged, and can't seem to find them......

Long story short.....

On the way down to Gerlachfest just over a month ago, the seal on my Wilbers blew.

Absolutely no damping to speak of by the time I got down there. I was riding on the spring rate only. Ugh.

Anyway, coming back after the event, I wasn't paying attention and let my speed creep up. Hit a big-ass dip in the road at ~ 80-ish mph, and the rear tire COMPLETELY bottomed out.

Taking out the rear fender, license plate, IBA license plate frame from MASS GOLD, and the container of oil for the Pro-Oiler system that was bolted to the *inside rear* of the fender!

All of these items - ALL of them - were wedge in between that 1/4" gap between the Pilot Road and the Red Fox hugger. All this at about ... 80-mph!

Most fortunately, the oil reservoir remained intact and leak-free... which would have been VERY bad had it not!

The license plate burned off all it's lettering where the tire rubbed up against it. Needs to be replaced.

It was an adventure.... :angry2:

First I've heard of this...bummer, dude.

Question, how many miles on the shock and has it ever been rebuilt? Not to hijack a thread or anything.

I'll be trying these tires myself shortly, ok so tires will be coming but it may be a bit before I actually get 'em mounted. (How's that for coming back to topic?)

No, it hadn't, and it was waaaaaay overdue for a rebuild, since it had about 29,000 miles since installation. So, in the end, this was my own doing... :(

Here's some photos of the carnage:
