Checked all the spiders and was indeed bitten! Left front corner under the tank (S4).....just like many of you. Did report the incident.

'08 FJR Shutting Down W/O Warning

Battery terminals are clean and tight. All around the battery looks in order. Will lift the tank and begin examining the spiders. Why is the tank always full when you have to do this? Will make certain to report any issues found. Thanks for the advice.

'08 FJR Shutting Down W/O Warning

Ignition recall performed upon receipt of the offical notice from Yamaha. FYI, only electrical farkles are PIAA lights up front and Hyperlites in the rear. I too suspect a grounding spider issue. Thanks for the info.

'08 FJR Shutting Down W/O Warning

Recently had to replace fork seals, until then only routine service (14K miles). Twice in the past few weeks I have been slowing for a stop or turn into a business and she shutdown, no warning. Dash went blank like the key was off! Cranked right up both times, ran fine rest of the ride both...

Bike Shops not wanting to install tires they didn't sell.

Ditto on familiar story. There area a couple of dealers in central and north Louisiana that will accomodate you for about $26 per tire if you bring in the wheel and new tire. Most all others refuse to mount tires you purchased elsewhere or charge outrageous labor for such service. Check...

Need a little decision help from FJR owners...

Have an '08 FJR purchased a year ago. Looked at it and the C14 and obviously chose the FJR. Yes the C14 has about 6hp more at the rear wheel but by all accounts gets slightly lower mileage when the two are ridden the same. FJR has a slightly larger tank and saddlebags which come with liners...

    Best fuel mileage EVER!

Best I've seen was back country roads, solo with loaded bags but keeping it at 3,500-3,900 range. Averaged about 49. Two up with loaded luggage, running 65mph on similar roads we averaged 46. Solo and hammering it, not so good but lots of fun. As for the gauge, when I get down to 2 bars...

    FJRF003.1: Ignition Switch

Thanks Forum to members who reported their ignition switch failures. A visit to the NHSTA's web page to read the recall announcement I noted in further research, that FJRForum was stated as a source of information leading to their decision to investigate this issue. Amazing that Yamaha...

    BT021 Front Tire Ridge

Just took a second look at the tire and focused on the tread, not much remaining! Guess looking at the "ridge" had me like a deer in the headlights. Time to purchase a new front tire, but not another 021 for sure. Thanks for the help.

    BT021 Front Tire Ridge

At 3600 miles on the original BT-021's I noted a ridge developed along center of the tread, front tire only. I have put a few hundred miles on since, when its not storming, and the bike handles OK, but have noticed little front end vibration. Back tire looks great, even wear, lots of useable...

    Convince Me

Ditto most everyone who has replied on this issue, buy the FJR! I also spent several months reading everything I could get my hands on or find on-line. To quote my old dad who seems to get wiser to me as the years pass, never buy a first year model...maybe even wait past the 2nd year. Hate...

Newbie here, Question about 2 up riding...

I've had mine almost 5 months and finally got the wife to go along on a 3 day trip into Arkansas. First off she was surprised how much stuff she could put in one saddlebag; also being able to pack a liner then just stow it in the saddlebag - pop it put at the hotel. She is 5'-4" and had a...

    OMG! Got my FJR!

Ditto the Welcome and advice to take a safety course. I went 25 years in a cage then back to riding. Found out quickly how rusty I was especially at slow speed stuff around parking lots, etc. Go easy, watch your back, those side street & parking lot entrances! Amazing how many folks "didn't...

    FJR Throttle

My '08 was manufactured in 12/07 (according to the tag) and it has the abrupt throttle referred to experienced with earlier models. Have checked the freeplay, cables, etc. and everything seems to be well within spec so the G2 sleeve and throttle cam appears to be the logical step. So far this...

    FJR Maybe

Bought an '08 two months ago after spending several months doing research. Wanted bags, windshield, etc. and ABS. Looked at Beemer K and R bikes, Goldwings, Concours, ST1300, even Harley touring models. Hands down best bike for the money; too many features to list. Just remember, whatever...
