    Luggage Rack and Backrest

I have one of the PCA racks with a Givi E55 without the padded backrest and my wife says is needed she can lean right on the bag, since she always wears a jacket with padding on the back. She is ~120lbs, and she prefers not to lean back on it, however. I believe PCA claims their backrest...

    Wheelies - Do you?

I know, I know... It's squidly of me to even think this, but something about owning a motorcycle and not being able to wheelie bothers me. :) I've just valued my bikes too much to risk dropping them doing something "stupid". All of my past bikes (except my first, a Ninja 250) have been...

    FJR Assistance Directory Address

Added myself as (another) NJ contact. I also see that the list is available as a POI list for Garmin users. If I get the list I will be doing the same for my TomTom, and if there are no objections could make this available to list members as well.

Woot!!!! Scala Rider G4 getting real close now.

Wow, thanks for pointing that system out! It pretty much does exactly what I want it to do. Availability however looks limited here in the states.

Woot!!!! Scala Rider G4 getting real close now.

I am not sure that they will, but sooner or later one of these companies will realize that not everybody is going to buy their units alone, and that their needs to be some standardization for bike to bike comms. I don't even want or expect built in FRS functionality, just the ability to add it...

Race track circuit near Mont Tremblant

Was there about 4 years ago... Great track. A few blind turns, in particular the left just after the bridge/overpass. I'd probably say its my 2nd favorite track behind VIR North.. I ride with a few guys that also go to Calabogie and Mosport... On the Mt Tremblant trip we also went to...

    Ready to pull the trigger

Dang, I would have just bought it right then and there.. I have no self control. ;) Hope you get it, and good luck... Only advice would be to make sure they change the oil if there is anything in there. Good possibility its been sitting in there for a while, and old oil is not much better...

Woot!!!! Scala Rider G4 getting real close now.

Looks like the charger port is a micro USB, so I would wind up using my own 12v cable and likely keep the 120v charger at home... I would need both units, so I can't split the cost with anybody,, unfortunately... I am interested in getting some feedback before making a purchase.. I am really...

    New Kind of M/C Trailer

These things make perfect sense... As SacrementoMike pointed out, after an accident or a vehicle becomes disabled, traffic will back up quickly, in some cases for miles, especially during rush hour commutes into large cities. When this happens the tow vehicle usually has to sit through that...

    Cold Weather Riding

Oh, I also forgot to mention that a the Moto show a few weeks ago the Can-Am spyder dealer in Mineloa, LI convinced us o take a ride out there to give the Spyder a spin.. They do test rides... It sure looks like a ton of fun, and I am afraid I would want one after taking a ride, but I really...

    Bike for GF

Having come from an 06 636 myself, and looking to get something more capable as a 2up tourer, I was originally looking at the Suzuki SV650s, GS600F, Kawi's 650R and ZZR600 (which is their 00-02 ZX-6R reintroduced as a "new" model in 05 or 06), the and the FZ6R. For me when I realized all of...

    Cold Weather Riding

If that's whats out there.. yeah... Probably not much to see or do, but I think I saw a state park at the eastern end, and there are some ferries to CT, so I might loop back around.. I can't imagine there even being many good roads out there... For weekend trips its usually just me with the...

Question about trailer hitches for FJR

I'm also interested in others experiences. I looked into this a little when I first purchased the bike, but it might be a year or two before I actually made the purchase. I had crazy thoughts of towing my track bike behind the FJR. ;) Towing a 400lbs bike + trailer + gear is probably a bad...

Is A2DP backwards-compatible to regular bluetooth?

BTW, after reading the other thread and a quick search, the answer is pretty simple. Your Garmin wants to stream music via A2DP and the Scala Q2 does not support this profile. You comments about replacing the Scala with the Motorola being relevant, is in fact not, since one device supports...

    Cold Weather Riding

Kudos to those guys, but its really a cultural difference. For us (in the states) riding on two wheels in the snow is an unnecessary risk. Heck, even when the weather is favorable, most people tend to think that those of us on 2 wheels are nuts. ;)

    Mason Dixon 20-20

I used to do something similar many years ago in a car. I'll have to look into doing this, it looks like a ton of fun. Do you usually do this on your own, or work in teams? It wasnt clear from the "How it works" page...

Is A2DP backwards-compatible to regular bluetooth?

Well a single device can support multiple profiles, simultaneously, so your Garmin should use A2DP for stereo streaming and either the hands free or headset profile for talking on the phone. Bluetooth is still plagues with interoperability issues between some devices, even when they support the...

Is A2DP backwards-compatible to regular bluetooth?

A2DP was for the Stereo streaming. The increased range is achieved by becoming a class 1 device, rather than class 2. The classes dictate how much transmit power the device is capable of. A2DP did not increase the range. As for why the XBi and XBi2 wont talk with one another, I am not sure...

    Cold Weather Riding

If riding to work was an option, then I would probably do the same thing, with freezing temps being my cutoff. I commute into NYC and I really don't like riding in the city when its warm out. I'm not terribly convinced cagers care one way or the other any time of the year. I have seen the...

    Cold Weather Riding

Looks like activity for this region on the forum is a little slow. Not sure if its weather related or there is another forum Northeast FJR riders like to hang out on. Regardless, just wondering if anybody here rides in the cooler weather? Prior to the FJR I rode sportbikes and my cutoff was...
