    Loose rear axle nut

And! this is especially true Steve when u know it's going to be yer azz on that bike, riding for 100's and 100's of miles, around town, long trips, etc etc!! Even if someone else does work on my bike, I go behind them and make sure of at least the major things that should have been torqued...

    Ride 85mph Legally

Realizing that 'yeah', it makes u legal... Naaaaa, I'll go a bit over and take my chances ;) Now if it was like the auto-bahn! Now that's a trip... they don't call the vehicles there 'World Class' for no reason. I watched the Porches' and Benz' haul it down on world class brakes from 160 -...

    Loose rear axle nut

In addition to what others have said, my understanding is ea time that rear tire gets replaced you're also suppose to be lubing all the splines etc for that shaft drive. Remember using Honda Moly Paste on mine. If your 'local guy' doesn't know to do that... well, just another reason to learn...

    Clutch

Probably... but... when's the last time you bled the clutch? That would be the first thing I'd do. Then go from there. Still bad? The clutch on the FJR is easy to get to. It may also be in need of a "clutch soak". It's possible anyway that is all it is. The symptoms sound like that, but with...

    06 A for sale. SOLD

Did something similar myself almost a year ago, January. Believe me, not knocking the feej. It's an awesome bike and there's few bikes with that power in a sport touring configuration. But ya gotta to with your needs. Most (almost all!) of my riding is around town, or short day trips. Hell, I...

How to Piss off 57 yr old mother & 23 yr old daughter...

That's F'n hilariously Howie ;) Sounds like there's a lot of under current of feelings going on there. Hey anyone in that situation would have similar issues I'm sure. It's a lot to deal with Bro, wish you the best with it.

    Being Seen

Rather than try to flash them yourself, I'd suggest Hyper Lites. They are pretty inexpensive and install is pretty easy too. My understanding is that the headlight modulators don't reduce bulb life. They actually modulate from about 80% power to 20% power (or something around there). It's not...

    Being Seen

Well there shouldn't be any doubt in anyone's mind that drunks, texting drivers, etc etc may not see you no matters what... But to come to the conclusion because of this you should just quit trying to be seen? Sorry, no, bad choice imho.

    Stupid hurts!

Here's another video most have probably seen already, the kids in the mini van filming the cruiser riders going around them at The Gap... clearly the riders have no business being there... https://www.youtube.c...h?v=IRCfBtID-NU

    Stupid hurts!

WheatonFJR is of course correct. these are split second decisions. One thing to think about re "Target Fixation" would be this: if the vette got out of the way (let's say by moving left)... would the guy on the bike now stop target fixation? My response would be absolutely the **** not... he...

    Stupid hurts!

You cite a lot of scenarios to prove your point, and rightfully so. But let's re visit... what about the one I cite? Mac? the guy on the bike that side swiped the other rider and maimed him for the rest of his life? The other guy was on a bike, not in an 18 wheeler or a vette, both very slow to...

    Bad News

Absolutely tragic man, absolutely tragic... So sorry to hear it.

    Stupid hurts!

Sorry but I still disagree. I'm well aware of that if someone is behind the out of control motorcyclist that could make the situation worse. That's really obvious. It's also obvious what the learned reaction is. It's instinctual, to want to move away and avoid the collision. it's what anyone...

Dump your bike for a woman?

We need more vid of Tara running... Run Tara Run! :P

    Stupid hurts!

Well the first thing, your analysis includes the rider "recovering from their stare at the camera stupidity". And for some, that may be the case. But I don't see it that way. I don't believe this person crashed because they were staring at the camera, I believe it was because they don't know how...

    Stupid hurts!

yeah, it's difficult to imagine that fluids from that wreck would sit there for 90 mins on the dragon. There are so many cars and riders there, someone is going to stop and do something about it, before someone crashes. It just doesn't make sense. One thing to think about... say you're in the...

    Time for a new GPS

The Life Time Maps is always for the life time of the unit. Garmin should make that obvious imho, think it is if you buy it additionally, but if it comes with a new unit they may not spell it out that well. A previous poster was knocking the NUVIs as unreliable etc. Not the case with mine. Have...

    Time for a new GPS

Mine is just a simple Nuvi. This is the little kit from Amazon I used: Nuvi Battery It's a 1250 Mah, and the oem is only 500. It was very easy to replace and it's now doing great. Searching Google one should find a kit for their individual Nuvi Models. I'm kind of a cheap skate but consider a...

    Anchors Aweigh

hahahha now that was funny ;) Well, only because I'm home having breakfast and a glass of wine... not swimming at The Gap... :dribble:

    Time for a new GPS

Well... I"m still using the "old Garmin" ;) But just put a new battery in it, and it's still doing fine. Wasn't that much money and easy to do, although Garmin never designed them to be replaceable. Mounting was easy using the triple tree stem nut (after market one, already drilled) and a...
