    Engine Loosen Up?

I seem to recall a noticeable improvement in mpg (which to me meant the engine was finally fully broken in) right about 10K miles. In the almost 75K since then, not much change... If you're concerned about the break-in, I believe the official MamaYama rules are not to exceed 4K rpm for...

    Race Tech Suspension Group Buy

Yep, need to service your shock somewhere in the 25 - 30K mile range. But recharging/rebuilding a vastly superior shock beats replacing the at-best mediocre stock shock (and yes, both will cost you...)

** BRODIE NEEDS OUR HELP ** Serious Collision **

Well, it was for charity - trying to raise money so Brodie can mount a tuba or a trumpet or something on his bike to ward off errant pickups and confused elk. Next time maybe he'll figure out he needs to advertise in the local paper BEFORE going full monty... For those out of the loop...

** BRODIE NEEDS OUR HELP ** Serious Collision **

Feeger didn't just help out - He did the full monty - Brought a trailer, had the means to winch the bike onto it, AND drove it to San Jose. THANKS AL!!!

** BRODIE NEEDS OUR HELP ** Serious Collision **

I'll go. I'll give work a big shove in the right direction before I leave, then it should only take a couple of hours to pick up the bike if all the paperwork is in place. Sam (Puppychow) says he can help load, but he'll have to take off work to do so. Anybody available to help load tomorrow...

** BRODIE NEEDS OUR HELP ** Serious Collision **

OM, Sounds like you've got the go-ahead to pick up Brodie's stuff. I'll PM you with my contact info so you have a backup plan. I've got a long-bed Dodge pickup if it turns out Brodie wants you to haul the whole bike out of the wrecking yard... RsvlFeej

    2005 fjr 1300 clattery idle

+1. And, if the bike IS due for a valve check, most of the work to get to the CCT is identical to that done to shim the valves, so get 'em done together and save some labor $$$.

    '05 ABS Wheel on '05 Non-ABS Bike

OR, sell me your good ABS front rim and put the money toward a new non-ABS rim and don't screw around with difficult bolts... PM, please?

hard start and runs poorly after hot start, at times

On Cali model FJRs only, the rough running after sitting in the sun is caused by the carbon canister. SShank - Is your bike a Cali model? Do these symptoms sound familiar? https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?s...09&hl=rough

    Ride to Work Day

I get to put us into double digits - But then I rode to the shop for new fork seals and a new rear tire...Hope I'm only off my normal commuter ride for a day

FJRBluesman is Buying Lunch in NorCal

Sorry I missed everybody today. Got to confuzzle OM on the route yesterday and had a BLAST doing so, but this morning was reserved for the privilege of wearing the paper and yarn tie my elder (4 1/2 y.o.) boy created for me last week.

    What does this look like?

    10 - one-gram weights in a single box/package, giving you a total of: 10 grams weight in one-gram (each wheel-weight) increments.

    In Beautiful Washington

Move to Cali, do it at every stop light and whenever traffic slows below the speed limit. Still haven't lost that magic feeling (fook, can't believe I went with that last bit in a thread thick with fairies and tie-downs - may as well throw in a unicorn)

    Motoport armor

For me, the starting point in this argument is: The best gear in the world won't do you a bit of good if it's still hanging in your closet when you have your get-off - If it's not comfortable, I'm not going to wear it. My interpretation of relative comfort (based solely on the Motoport site's...

    New Rifle is on...

Gen I and Gen II bikes. Windshield brackets are different enough to render comparisons moot. For my Gen I, I hated the Rifle touring, liked the CeeBailey +4,+4, and LOVE my Rifle jumbo for winter - but definitely a popemobile look. Run the stock shield with Rifle tuning block in the summer.

    Need new gear, please help!

From personal experience, Tourmaster draft gear is garbage: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?s...=mesh&st=20 I did like my mesh Olympia pants, but fortunately never crash-tested them. Motoport jacket and pants for me now - as they say, expensive, but much cheaper than skin grafts.

Projected Maintenance Needs 75k miles Gen II

79,800 is the 3rd valve adjust interval if you did the first 2 on time (every 26,600 miles)

    Cutting the stock shield

Before you go cutting anything, let's meet up so you can borrow my spare Rifle tuning block (Gen I only) for a week or two to see if you like it. It tips the stock shield towards you and down so you get full airflow a bit below sternum-height at the lowest adjustment level and about...

    Practical Jokes...

I had forgotten about my evil childhood until you mentioned this...I once picked up a packet of those exploding cigarette loads (spikes) at a flea market. Since my dad smoked, he got a few cigarettes spiked. BUT, since he smoked unfiltered Lucky Strikes, I only had a 50-50 shot at him lighting...
