    Wider rear tire

In the words of Cycle Canada: "The ultra-wide rear tire serves the same function as the tail feathers of a peacock."

    Metzeler Z-8 Tires

You-right ^^^ -- mostly... As long as the new tires are, somewhat, the style/application for the bike. I once mounted a GoldWing (application) rear tire on a C-10 Concours in order to see if I could get more tire-life. I hated that tire from the first corner -- 1/4 mile from my...

    Wind

Does increased weight enter into the (physics) equation...? (can an aluminum boat anchor work...?) Sidestand ("Jiffy-stand") v/s Centerstand ("Main-stand): A story -- departing on an ocean-going ferry, the crew advised all the motorcyclists to park their bikes 'in-gear' and on the...

    middle gear drive shaft vibration

That's been covered on this Forum in the past, pretty sure? (not very recently, tho...) IIRC, the engine needed to be moved forward (about the same work as removing)?

    Valve Adjustment

'FJRay' is correct ^^^ above -- it's not too involved just checking clearances; but, if you find ones that need adjusting (changing adj.-shims) the job becomes much more involved. "...it's the same cost no matter if we adjust them or not." Either the shop has a 'blanket fee' for looking at...

    Anyone use these filters?

I don't think mail order (or, UPS, FedEx, etc.) has anything to do with the quality of a part...? I, actually, prefer (and look for) round 'O'-ring-style oil-filter gaskets -- I think they seal better.

    Anyone use these filters?

HiFlo Filtro is a proven product by me -- I've used many (FJR & other) -- very good product at a fair price (IMO).

    Rear Wheel Timing

Because of the level of importance, it's imperative for the home-tuner to find the timing-marks on the rear hub...If the timing marks are, for some reason, un-available? Using one of these: will allow you to make your own timing-marks -- get it right, tho... :o  ... ;)

    Rear Wheel Timing

In the automotive world -- this is an issue with drive-shaft u-joint alignment (must be correct). This is why some FJRs are smoother than others -- Rear Wheel Timing...! If you ever get to ride an FJR with correct crankshaft TDC/rear-spline alignment -- you'll know... ;)

    Riding Gloves Recommendations?

I rode a 2,800 mile ride with a buddy who was wearing HELD gloves and I witnessed them falling apart on that trip. I have another buddy who can have any gloves he wants and he prefers the ones he bought at the Harley shop.

    Dealer/Mechanic Recommendation

Stadium Yamaha Or, ask any Yamaha dealer to run your V.I.N. to see if your TPS has been changed (under Yamaha re-call).

    Going to the Dark Side

Yes, but very different from modern m/c tires. I doubt anyone would want their FJR to handle like a '52 panhead? You must've laced a 15" rim to that old Harley? You've been doing this sort'a thing for a long time...

    KTM; advice on buying

Austrian engineering...? Just for the heck of it, I checked a 'net site for KTM parts: oil filter kit -- $47.99 (then there's oil...) I have renewed respect for my KTM riding friends... :)

    Dash light question

Wow, if you're utilizing the ABS feature of your FJR in short, normal, daily riding -- you're really riding that thing...! :o

    Excuuuse Me!

It's all about 'hair' -- ain't it... Or, was it 'cowboys' -- hell, I'll probably never get it...

    Going to the Dark Side

The number one motorcycle crash statistic, historically, is another vehicle colliding with the motorcycle while that other vehicle is making a left turn in an intersection. The number one, single vehicle, motorcycle crash statistic (historically) is the motorcycle running wide on a turn and...

    IBR Help! Leaking Rear Drive

It is a "weep" hole -- put there for 'weeping'. One suggestion: maybe? use MamaYama's FJR-specified rear-drive oil (if you're not?) -- they may, actually, know something there...? (and, don't over-fill the rear-drive) Good luck.

    helicoiling

Yes, technically, I agree -- the Helicoil is an excellent device. Yet, there are many horror stories (in the field) of improper installation and cross-threading, ? with repeated use ending in Helicoil damage, etc.

My 2003 is unresponsive sometimes - No getup and go

You've got a 9 Y.O. motorcycle that's been ridden a little over 1K miles/Yr. If you live in a damp climate, you could have seriously compromised brake hyfraulics. After riding, feel for heat in your brake rotors -- they could be self-applying? And reducing any surplus H.P. (I had a buddy who...

'Mint' Right side Muffler / mirror

Things get bent (mounts, mounting points) -- check for similar heights, and distances (left & right side -- they often aren't exactly the same -- re the FJR's rear -- but close). (btw, I may be interested in your scratched muffler -- where and how badly?)
