    Mugello MotoGP

Nicky lost the front end just like Casey has in 2 of the 3 previous races. Really nothing special, not pushing too hard, and the front just tucks in. I really think Ducatti have been overtaken by others in the development. Casey even reverted to last years forks to try and get more front-end...

Advice on my first SaddleSore 1000

Congrats and well done. Sounds like it was well planned and well executed. Welcome to the club.

Rossi out for at least 3 months after practice crash

That is a bummer. He has had a remarkably (serious) injury-free run for many years, and this is jusy not good news.

    Colour confusion

@Gazza - post the question on the Aussie forum, here: https://forum.fjr13.org/index.php One of the admins there, Thommo, is a painter by occupation, I think, and he is pretty knowlegable on colours, etc. You'll find me there and on the FJROwners forum as david1300.

Anybody find a pickax on the road?

Just a year ago, about 10 k's from home here, a young 21?yo on his bike was killed when a spare wheel from a trailer travelling the opposite direction came loose. We pass his roadside memorial 6 to 7 times a month heading out or back from rides. A really tragic incident.

Help needed to design aux lighting circuit

Thanks for the great and helpful suggestions. Reading through the posts I realise I did the usual when I don't know enough - I described an overly comlpex way of achieving what is a relatively simple solution. The simple 'request' would have been: I want power to the H4 lo-beam circuit...

packing for a long trip ran out of space

I always take a tube of toothpaste that only has enough left to last the trip, small shampoo bottles (with O-rings so they don't leak - was interesting going to Bearing & Seals shop to but O-rings for mini shampoo bottles), small bottle of detergent....and a toilet paper roll with only a...

Help needed to design aux lighting circuit

Here's my challenge: Zea's 600Fazer illuminates the left headlight only on low beam (H7 bulb). The right headlight in an H4 bulb (same as FJR - managed ot get FJR mentioned  ) but the low beam is not used at all. On high beam the left headlight stays on, and the high beam on the...

packing for a long trip ran out of space

And another reply here. We (wife and I) did 3 weeks of USA touring 5,000+ miles (we are from Aussie) and we used our usual method. On this ride we went through Death Valley (about 110F and the Colorado Rockies 27F): She gets the left case. I get the right. Use compression sacks. We each get...

    Riding with Dogs

Molly, our Spoodle (cross Cocker Spaniel and Minature Poodle) has been for a few rides, but I haven't made a suitable long-term arrangement. I have toyed with some ideas based on the Givi rack, but nothing definite yet.

    Mini Air Compressor

Seems like you don't ride very far - like where there is no cell-phone coverage. If it works for you, good, but not for many.

    MotoGP Spain

Great to see Nicki riding so well this year! And the Moto 2 race was great, as was the last round of WSK - that second race was just awesome.

Hey, Byron Bay - that's a little over an hour from where I live. Might be forced to go have a look-see

Problem with Tuffrhino Miracle Cooling Vest...

Something else we do use a lot, are the crystal-type neck coolers. These need to be recharged for a lot longer - maybe an hour. We have drying problems (how to get them dry without smelly), but at their price you can throw them out each season, or launder them, or whatever. Remember that a...

Problem with Tuffrhino Miracle Cooling Vest...

It really cooled (like auto air-conditioning) for 5 to 10 minutes - to the point of sometimes getting a shiver, but that's just the excess water evaporating. Then really comfortable cooling for around 2 hours, maybe 3, and this is the key time. It takes less time to recharge than it does to...

Problem with Tuffrhino Miracle Cooling Vest...

We have been using our Silver Eagle vest for about 4 or 5 years now, including during 3 weeks touring in SW USA in temps of around 100+ (incl Death Valley, Arizona, etc). https://www.coolweave.com.au/vests.htm I am sure there will be a 'stateside supplier too. Hope the link come up as a...

CO2 Tire Inflator Cartridges -- Any risk from heat?

Good on you. I have had flats on 3 long tours, and in each case my repair kit has worked great. 1st time used 3 CO2 cylinders to get approx 20psi in rear - thereafter switched to carrying a compressor. And, as pointed out earlier - car & 4WD have spare wheels.

Problem with Tuffrhino Miracle Cooling Vest...

Don't get a 'crystal' based vest - get a 'hollow fibre' type. They dry quicker (you have to recharge every 2 to 4 hours in midsummer in Arizona, but they recharge in 5 minutes and air-dry fine.

167 miles two up my new FJR.

Some great advice, and I'll add mine. 1st - good on you for asking questions/asking for input. Sort through what works for you. 2nd - HUGE plus that your wife came home with a helmet and jacket. Have you told her how much you appreciate this, and how you will make it all work for you guys...
