    The problem with motorcycling

Like anything else, it's an assumed risk. All a rider can do is prepare for and anticipate failure of equipment (or other people's attentiveness) at any given time. People wearing seatbelts and having airbags in cars can still die...now what? If you spend the $$ on good gear then you are...

    Better Riding Techniques

I wouldn't consider ABS as "trading up". Anything that removes your braking power is not a safety feature, IMO. Learning how to threshhold brake...now THAT's where it's at.

    Better Riding Techniques

 An hour? Brother man, a group of us will ride 4 or 5 hours in order to hit the sweetest twisties in VT and NY....and hour is just getting started.

Loudon Road Racing Series at NHMS

Nice! Are you on NESR by any chance? I race a 2002 F4i in Novice. Come ride in the rain! I'm pretty stoked about it. Good opportunity to practice smoothness... I'll swing thru and try to find you.

    What's better than a PCIII?

Hey! My FI light is on....I wonder what it could be. :dribble: DOH! Swiss-cheese style! Some people's kids...

    Better Riding Techniques

Not sure if I understand you clearly but for the low-speed situations you want to be more or less on top of the bike rather than leaning into the turn.....again, if I understand what you're describing.

    Cold Weather Gear

Going on two years using the following method: Gerbing's gloves A tube-like thingy for my neck (a home made "custom" jobbie) Zipping in the liners to my jacket and pants then putting my rain gear over my jacket to break any intruding wind. Wool socks worn with my Tour Master Solution road...

Any Ford engineers in the house?

 2001 Ranger with the 4.0 SOHC 6 spark plugs, 4 hours of work. Raise the vehicle on the pass. side, remove wheel and remove fender lining to access the 2 plugs underneath the blower motor....don't bother trying to get smart and remove the blower motor....it just won't work that way.

    Better Riding Techniques

Track days are a great place to exercise and hone your skills. There's the added bonus of instructors to help with body positioning and other tips to accurately manage your motorcycle. It's usually better to have an experienced rider work with you because they can observe what you are doing...

    Hole Shot Slip on question

Fuel mapping is fuel mapping. Power Commander has its own software so you wanna find someone who's experienced with that rather than the FJR.

OK, I took it off the bike.....

Well it helps to know what you took apart initally. Otherwise, are you sure that's not BMW hardware? Looks strikingly similar... In any case, that is a bolt that secures a panel of some kind or another light-duty application.

    Modify stock muffler

 Oh no you didn't.... Bro, I haven't even broken 30 so what does that make me? Old fart mentality in a young man's body? DISCLAIMER: No offense to the old farts, of course. As far as exhaust, just pony up the loot for a slip-on system and maybe a PCIII to compliment it.

Who's owns the FJR in this pic? (BARF rider)

If you're on here, I wanted to say "thanks" for letting him roll with your group and pointing him to some killer roads. He's posting quite an amazing write up on our New England forum of his road trip in your area, with you and your group being a notable part of it. He is a taller guy named...

    FZ1

FWIW; I own the Gen1 version of both bikes and speed-wise they are very similar in giddy-up The FJR has more grunt, the FZ1 more top end. Handling goes, hands down, to the FZ1 MPG and general comfort, stock for stock, FJR Wheelies, FZ1 (although it's pretty funny to lob the front end on the...

Both machines can get you in an equal amount of trouble, if that's what you're really asking.
