Zilla, I drive a Ram 3500 dually and an Fjr 2005, to back that up I have an 85 FJ 1100 , now the only things I know of that suck is Bustanut and Odot, Odot being the better of the two.
Well You did a piss poor job, no wonder Buddy came back for Warranty work. If you would have done that poor of a job on My Vehicle, I would kick your ***, several times.

Main thing is the temperature, when I did My ride, it just happened to be one of the hottest peroids of the times. I went through approx 9 liters of water and never had to stop for a Pee once. It was like riding into a Hair dryer all day long.
I have a custom built fuel cell much like Ray's. It cost me over $1000.00 by the time every thing was said and done.

If you don't change Oil every 500 kms, your engine is going to implode.
Yamaha get's all of these extra Horsepower by an Intenational agreement that they change oil every 500 kms, otherwise Your Warrenty is viod.

Wheaton Jr; I think Rushes has hit it right on. Yamaha had problems with several of their bikes in that era, concerning the shifter dogs. A popular fix back in the day was to have the dogs undercut slightly to help hold the dog into engagement.
