Bill Mayer Saddles - Ride in experience

Is that a Corbin backrest on the pillion seat? Is he getting a Corbin redone by Mayer?

how to remove spray paint from auto paint ?

Laquer thinner is the answer. Bought a used Italjet that someone sprayed the muffler without protecting the bike. Got spray paint all over engine and body work. Went to automotive paint shop and asked for their advice and was told to use the laquer thinner. Worked fantastic. Wipe vigorously...

    Pondering the dual sport again

Hi Orangevale, I have the LC4 KTM, 2002. It is one vibrating sucker. Both mirrors have broken off due to metal fatigue from vibration. Also, it is made for people with an inseam of 43 inches. I put a lowering link in the rear and dropped the front about an inch and I can still only touch the...

    Yamaha factory heated grips

On the Brake away did you have to cut any of the rubber off the inside rubber shoulder of the grip to fit the throttle lock? Did this lock work well? It appears to be a quality unit as it well should be for the price. Let me know what you think of this item please. I know you removed it...

    Yamaha factory heated grips

What kind of fancy throttle lock were you using with the heated grips? I can see how only Throttlemeisters would work but nothing else with the wires coming from the heated grips. I hope there are other possibilities. Thanks

    Mag Knight tank bra

I put the silver Mag Knight on the 06 AE. Not a perfect color match, just one more silverish color on the multi silvered 06. Looks good, and although I haven't seen an AE with the carbon fiber or black, I think the silver probably looks best. I don't think you want to draw attention to the...

    NEP on 06 AE

I could adapt these throttle locks to the throttle cable housing, but what about the 2 wires sticking out of the inside edge of the heated grips? Can't see how you could even begin to get anything other than the throttlemeister to work.

    cruise control

I ordered one and it is quality stuff. However, it will not fit the AE because of the heated grips. The only throttle lock that I can imagine will work for this bike is the Throttlemeister.

    Possible comvert

I've switched over from a BMW K1200RS and am happy I did. The build quality of the BMW might be a little better but not that much. My wife and I just got back from a 600 mile romp on the AE, and she said it is much improved over the BMW. Her knees for the first time did not get sore. You...

    AE Clutch Engagement is Adjustable

Just got back from a long ride from Sacto.- Bodega Bay- Mendocino on 1- and back on the AE. Impressed with the bike but I'm questioning my picking the AE over the A. Anyone else getting tired of all the clunking from the drive train on rides that involve alot of shifting up and down and starts...

Sacramento area AE at a great price

Got my AE from PCP Yamaha for $15000. out the door (that includes DMV and sales tax, prep, everything). Made that offer based on what I learned from this board, and after much "Oh, we can't do that"s, they did that.

    Pit Bull stand for AE

Has anyone used the Pit Bull stand that lifts the front of the bike with two rubber covered metal bars under each front fork while the bike is on the center stand? It seems like the ABS sensor bracket gets in the way of the rear support of the left rubber covered bar. Understand? Is this...

    06 throttle response

I have 1500 miles on my AE and have observed what you're talking about. I removed the center spring and took out as much of the free play in the throttle as I could and this helped, but taking off from a dead stop still takes much concentration. One of my friends I rode to Laguna Seca with...

AE Test Drive! I rode the '06 AE and tested the shifters

Orange, Nice review. I've got an AE with 1500 miles on it now. I like the auto clutch more and more over time but have decided if I had it to do over again would get the clutch model. It's the slow speed clutch feathering that is not as smooth as maual. Also, has anyone noticed that the...

    '06 - Bike heat report in 106F, 25% humidity

The heat was either coming directly out from under the tank or from the frame rails. The tank does not get hot. I do have a Mag-Knight guard on the tank, but I think without this the tank would still not be hot. If I hadn't been wearing shorts there would have been no problem with heat. It...

    '06 - Bike heat report in 106F, 25% humidity

Rode my 06 in 103 degree weather in shorts. Outside indicated temp. (on pavement) was 112. The bike radiated a huge amount of heat from the shin area. Was surprised that the frame rail just below the tank was so hot you couldn't keep your hand on it. Also, had heat rash on the inside of my...

    AE on Reserve

A scary thought came to me while 45miles into my reserve on the freeway. What happens at speed on the AE if you run out of gas? Does it pull in the clutch automatically, or simply stay engaged and engine brake while you're in the fast lane in traffic? The speculation and comments should be...

    Throttle Lock for an AE?

Thanks. I know the cruise controlls will work, but looking specifically for throttle locks( other than Throttle Meister). Anyone?

    Throttle Lock for an AE?

Seems the design of the heated grips screws up the installation of all throttle locks. The rubber part of the grip along with the wires goes into the twist grip housing of the throttle barrel. Doesn't seem to be any way for the standard design of the locks to grip just the throttle tube. The...

    FJR-AE RIDER REPORTS

It's me, the AE pessimist. One issue everyone will have, is if you shut the motorcycle off with it in gear to park , all is well. However, to move it, you have to reinsert the key, shift it into neutral, then move it. This is a pain in the ass if the key is in the house and you need to move...
